A sustainable development in lime industry also, can only be met if we work together. This accomplishment is a testament to the technical expertise and commitment of the X4LIME team, reinforcing our reputation as leaders in lime production technology and maintenance. To build a better world, we need to be supportive, empathetic, inventive, passionate, and above all, cooperative.

What did our team find?

Building on our previous success, earlier this year, in revitalizing Bergmann Kalk’s QualiCal Synthesis 40 lime kiln, X4LIME’s Performance Reliability Service Center (PRC) implemented a pioneering approach to minimize daily alarm events.

The outcome is a more streamlined operation that not only allows for easy management and analysis but also helps in concentrating on unresolved alarms for quicker resolution.

Thanks to visibility on aggregate insight made available in the MOSAICO WORKSPACE, the plant followers can benefit of higher level of information, no more needing to be present at site to get known on what’s going, but grab information on plant status wherever they are.!

What was the trigger for this analysis?

The revitalization of the lime kiln at Bergmann Kalk was only the first step in a journey towards operational excellence. Following the relaunch, the plant was still experiencing an overwhelming number of alarms on a daily basis, making it difficult for operators to focus on priority tasks.

Another contributing factor was the need to improve information flow. This was particularly crucial for remote monitoring and required a comprehensive solution that went beyond merely reducing the number of alarms.

X4LIME Team presented the list of TOP 3 ALARMs whit clear evidence on their occurrences over time and taking the chance to explain in detail the reason behind this alarm to occurs, also for knowledge management inside the team and future resolution on similar issue.

What was the value to the customer?

Thanks to this “silent revolution”, while the plant was ongoing operating, there was a huge reduction in daily alarm events: within weeks, our team successfully reduced the number of daily alarms by value of 200 alarms per day to 50 alarm per day, a reduction of 75%, enabling operators to focus on critical aspects of plant management.

Alarm Occurrences since April’s 2023 restart

An Enhanced Alarm Awareness: the new system provides a structured categorization of alarms, making it easier for operators to identify and understand the nature of each alarm. This has led to quicker decision-making and better response times.

Focus on Unresolved Alarms: the reduced number of daily alarms has made it easier for the plant to allocate resources more efficiently. This has also allowed the team to concentrate on resolving the remaining, more complex issues.

“Our team at X4LIME’s PRC will continue to provide insights and solutions to Bergmann Kalk as we work together to resolve the remaining alarms and further optimize the operation. ” — Edoardo Cella — X4LIME Team Leader.
