Looking for new Investment Partners to join our team!
XFactor’s strength comes from our team of Investment Partners. We are all in the trenches as founders ourselves, having started nearly 30 companies and raised over $600M in venture capital. We are also all women that are passionate about bringing our experiences, networks, and insights to invest behind and support the next generation of female founders pursuing billion-dollar opportunities. In preparation for launching our third fund in early 2022, we are looking to add some new Investment Partners to our team. XFactor Ventures is a pre-seed and seed-stage venture capital firm investing in companies with female founders pursuing billion-dollar opportunities across all industries. We launched in 2017 with a unique model: our Investment Partners would all be existing female founders looking to learn more about investing and excited to leverage their expertise and relationships to invest in new companies. Our first fund had eight partners, and our second has 22 partners (current team here).
The Investment Partner role is part-time, the partners share the carried interest in the fund, and we operate with a high-conviction investment decision-making process that provides individual partners with significant authority. Over the last four years, we have invested in over 65 companies across the country (plus London and Mexico City) and in sectors ranging from Deeptech to B2B SaaS to Digital Health to Fintech to Consumer tech to DTC E-Commerce Brands.
We will be investing from a new fund in 2022 and will add Investment Partners to our team to increase our reach and expertise. At a high level, our criteria are simple: we are looking for female founders of venture capital-backed startups. More specifically, we have found that XFactor best fits founders who are:
- Naturally in the flow of new companies,
- Deeply curious about opportunities and trends,
- Strong mentors and are empathetic to the founder journey, and
- Interested in developing and honing their skills as venture investors.
XFactor, which one of our partners described as “a masterclass in venture capital”, can be a great launchpad for a career in VC should it be a fit. In fact, two of our first eight partners have become full-time general partners with larger funds, and we suspect more will follow in their footsteps. Equally valuable are the relationships developed across our team and community of founders, which self-sustains outside our investment activities. Our model is such that a partner’s time commitment ebbs and flows depending on developments in our own companies and investment opportunities we are pursuing, but we find it averages out to be 10–20 hours a quarter. We encourage founders from all communities, backgrounds, and stages to apply, but will note that we have found it can be hard to dedicate the time and attention to XFactor if your own company is in the pre-seed or seed-stage of development as we know that is more than a full-time commitment.
