HONG KONG (January 23, 2024). XGame and Xode hit the ground running in 2024! The Chinese New Year ushers in a milestone for XGame, Xode, and Web3 gaming in the Philippines. Xode’s Harold Glenn Minerva and XGame’s Noah Oliver Rigonan join forty-eight (48) developers and fifty-two (52) founders worldwide at the Polkadot Blockchain Academy in Hong Kong. This intensive in-person, classroom-based immersion in the Core Developer Track is a full-fledged curriculum covering blockchain technology’s conceptual underpinnings and hands-on application. This is the 4th wave of Polkadot Blockchain Academy from January 2 to February 4, 2024, at Cyberport 1, Cyberport Road, Hong Kong.

“I’m excited to be training with the future Web3 legends,” said Harold Glenn Minerva, Xode’s Founder and CTO. “The course is very technical. Very high-level, with professors and doctorates from the academe. The coding assignments are near-impossible to finish given the time constraints. You just can’t do it alone. Thank God for collaborative classmates!”

“Some of our wave-mates are expert developers, others are newbies. But they are all passionate about moving from Web2 to Web3,” XGame’s Noah Oliver Rigonan chimes in.

What is XGame and Xode?

XGame is a Web3 gaming platform that hosts different games in various stages of development. These games combine the immersive gaming experience offered by traditional gaming elements combined with NFT and blockchain technology.

XGame runs on the Xode Parachain in the Polkadot network. Xode paves the way to a decentralized Web3 future. It empowers gamers and game developers to leverage the ever-evolving Web3 landscape.

XGame on XODE will provide the game developers and gamers with user-friendly applications (NFT Marketplace, Dashboard Wallet, Exchange, etc.), tailored to the needs of the audience to be able to execute Web3 game porting with DeFi activities.

The Polkadot Blockchain Academy is for people who want to become significant contributors to blockchain technology. It’s a pioneering course to teach engineers how to build blockchains. The training covers economics, governance, game theory, cryptography, peer-based and distributed network systems, systems and API design, and much more. After learning theoretical modules, students go hands-on and will build blockchains and parachains using Substrate and FRAME.

Why is Polkadot and Substrate a big deal in Web3?

In 2016, Dr. Gavin Wood, Co-founder and CTO of Ethereum started Polkadot together with Robert Habermeier and Peter Czaban. To be sure, there were other blockchains, like the pioneering Bitcoin blockchain network and Ethereum. But they are stand-alone silos, little islands that do not talk much with each other or among themselves. If they do not communicate, they cannot interoperate. Polkadot changes that because interoperability — blockchains talking with one another — is the thinking behind Polkadot.

Polkadot is a multi-chain platform that enables different blockchains to interoperate and share information. Parachains are individual blockchains that connect to the Polkadot relay chain, benefiting from its military-grade security and consensus mechanisms.

To implement Polkadot, they created Substrate, a whole new technology set. Substrate is a blockchain framework. You can make new blockchains using this framework — in minutes!

Polkadot inception was rooted in the idea of a new decentralized internet called Web3 that Gavin Wood first termed back in 2014. He is also the founder of the Web3 Foundation.

“I would like to build my blockchain. The lessons can get overwhelming, though. Nosebleed gyud! Some slides are a summary of an entire book,” Noah adds.

“Attending the Polkadot Blockchain Academy is consistent with Xode’s mission to learn and share with our community our knowledge on Web3 and blockchain technology. We believe that Polkadot blockchain is a gateway to a better future for everyone,” HG Minerva concludes.

Things are looking up indeed for Xode and XGame in the year of the wood dragon!
