Blockchain adoption vs education

We all live in silos.

That’s something I’ve been thinking about quite a bit lately. And if you’re in the blockchain space, you probably have felt it too.

Everywhere we go, there’s talks about how blockchain is changing the world by doing this or that, about the latest ICOs, or about PoW vs PoS vs PoI vs DPoS vs LPoS, … and we somehow have managed to convince ourselves that people actually know what any of this means, and that it’s the next big thing that everyone is looking at —when it is definitely not true once you step out of that cryptoevent you happened to be in.

By the way, if you don’t know what any of those initialisms meant, they’re just types of consensus algorithms. We also have a primer on blockchain and crypto if you need to brush up on your Blockchain knowledge.

When almost every person that you meet raise their eyebrows when you tell them what you work on, and the only words that come out of their mouths is “bitcoin” and maybe “scam”, this should give you pause.

In almost every panel I’ve attended, there’s always a question from either the moderator or someone in the audience: what would we needed to do to bring blockchain to the masses?

Adoption and education are always the two main answers. They’re hot topics in the blockchain space and sometimes it feels like we’re a bunch of engineers talking about combustion engines and wondering how people don’t embrace them… when maybe we should give people the automobile.

How do we get people to actually use blockchain?

The answer is pretty clear: make products that actually benefit from using this technology, and make them easily accessible. For real growth, education needs to come right after adoption. Interest rises for most people once there is widespread use.

That’s why we’re building XONIO. The ease of access to cryptocurrency through prepaid airtime will automatically put a point of sale of crypto in everyone’s pocket.

And by having the XON token as a stable currency within the XONIO ecosystem, this will enable our users to start transacting in a more comfortable environment. The user experience of XONIO should be an easy, soft-landing, on-ramp.

We believe that is the way to adoption; putting the blockchain behind the curtain, and our users’ journey first.
