Introduction
The BlockUnblock: R&D Meetup was a social meetup organized by Novon and Xord, held on 21st Nov 2021 at CSRD, NED, to reignite the essence of blockchain in the generations to come.
Novon is an in-house R&D center for blockchain. Keeping true to its nature, the meetup was focused on the importance of research and innovation in blockchain. Alongside that, other areas of interest in blockchain technology were also discussed such as open-source contributions, and the latest and popular trends in the blockchain communities such as NFTs and DeFi. And lastly, all the domains of blockchain that the people can be a part of, depending on their interests and passions.
Speakers
The event was hosted by Salman Khan (Co-founder and CBDO of Xord). Followed by the speakers including Samra Tayyab (Product Manager at Octopus Labs), Abdul Sami J. (Blockchain Lead at Novon), Zainab Hasan (Lead Research Engineer at Novon) and finally, Shakeib-e-Shaida (Head of Research at Novon).
Details
The speakers highlighted the fact that the world is moving towards Web3.0 and the inevitability that is decentralization. And it is necessary for us, as a nation, to make sure that we are not left behind. They clarified the misconception that most of the people have about blockchain being limited to crypto currencies and trading. Instead, they painted a whole new picture that showed just how big and important a milestone blockchain actually is when it comes to innovation, and a paradigm shift of technology.
70+ blockchain enthusiasts attended the meetup having a variety of educational and technical backgrounds. The attendees included students, teachers as well as professionals already working in this field. Our speakers kept the sessions extremely interactive by answering any questions that the audience had. Not only this, our team encouraged all the attendees to network and socialize with our team and their fellow attendees after the sessions were over, which proved to be a great learning opportunity.
It was a delight to see such a passion for technology and specifically, blockchain in the people. People who are curious to learn and willing to contribute towards a bright future of blockchain in Pakistan.
