One of the qualities people of Xord holds is that they constantly bring up unique ideas, strategize and execute them into the expanse and Moosa is one of them. He is passionate to learn, fearless to jump into the execution of ideas, and takes risks to make them into success stories. From Chief Information Officer to Head of Capacity Building, Moosa has proved himself in every role he did.
Let’s see what he has to say about his journey at Xord.

  1. How Moosa is known at Xord?

Apart from the Head of Capacity Building, I think I am known as a person who loves to discuss and give new ideas to each Xordian. Also, people think that I neither sleep nor eat and work 24/7 but that is not true.

2. Xord’s culture is based on its core values. So, how do you think transparency makes a difference?

Transparency helps to overcome the communication gap in Xord. And because of transparency, everyone from the leadership team to an intern is accountable for their actions that improve the environment of Xord. Apart from this, it encourages everyone to provide the best suggestions and feedback to improve the company in every domain.

3. What brings you the greatest satisfaction in your work?

Exploration and exposure to the latest technology specifically to the blockchain bring the greatest satisfaction to my work. Also, overcoming the challenges during the tough times brings satisfaction because it gives me an acceleration to improve my management and technical capacity.

4. What problems did you face while building technical resources for Xord and how do you tackle them?

There were two major problems, firstly technical gap between our education system and the industry, as it cultivates a dependent mindset. When a student steps into the industry, he/she doesn’t know why he/she chose the respective domain and what would be the next milestone they need to achieve.

Secondly, the blockchain exposure within our country. SQA, Devs, and Security Engineers are skilled and equipped with the technicality in their respective domain but when they enter into the Web3.0 industry they need to learn blockchain from the start to understand the Web3.0 world.

And to cater to these issues, we have a Capacity Building function in Xord that is solely working on improvement and acceleration of technical skills needed in individuals in the next few months to achieve the company goals.

CTO of Xord (Shakeib e Shaida ) and I came up with a plan to evaluate the technical health of Xord where we evaluate each of the engineers in terms of their technical skills in the respective domain and provide them with the areas of improvement. And the important thing is that this evaluation is not done by any head or lead subjectively but it is measured by a comprehensive milestone document that also helps every new engineer to plan his/her roadmap for the next three months and improve their technical knowledge. The document has been developed by the tech leads and team members who already excelled in that domain which includes blockchain, SQA, Engineering, DevOps, and Project Management.

5. What strategies do you use to make quick decisions and which ones do you find most effective?

My strategy for making quick decisions is simple. I categorize decisions into four possibilities based on the type of decision I am making.

  • Irreversible and inconsequential
  • Irreversible and consequential
  • Reversible and inconsequential
  • Reversible and consequential

The great thing about this matrix is that it can help you quickly delegate decisions. You have to do a bit of mental work before you start, such as defining and communicating consequentiality and reversibility, as well as where the blurring lines are.

This is something that helps in decision making and I want to thank our COO Syed Fahad Hussain who mentored me on how he took the good decisions using this matrix.

6. What are the things at Xord that you would not want to miss?

There are leadership sessions held in the morning at Xord that I would not want to miss. This is the best thing to start a good and productive day.

7. What’s the funniest memory of you in Xord?

I have lots of funny memories but the one that is on the top is when I was made into a groom in Xord. Every time I remember that day I can’t stop laughing.
The scenario was that I am a believer of a theory that is mind over matter which means that I don’t care what people think of me and that doesn’t even matter in my life. Upon discussing this with my colleagues one day my friends just challenged me to wear a sherwani, I accepted that challenge, and then that sherwani event was made into a fake marriage event. I was walking in a sherwani like a groom whereas everyone was in casual.

8. What do you suggest to people who want to join Xord?

People who are passionate about any idea/product in the Web 3.0 industry, should plan a proper roadmap and connect with Xord.

Xord is proud to have passionate mentors and visionary leaders like Moosa, who not only evolve by constantly learning, they also make everyone else in the team level up their learning game.
