How to Play
Hi, my name’s Apoorv, and I’m one of the first 50 users on XP Fantasy’s daily fantasy esports platform (username: abhushan add me up!) This article will provide a brief overview of everything you need to know to enjoy your XP Fantasy experience — from creating an account, to drafting a line-up and adding friends!
Creating an Account
Signing up takes all of 10 seconds, all you have to do is create a username (hopefully something more creative than mine 😂), enter in your email, make a password, and BOOM, you’re all ready to go!
Entering a Contest & Drafting a Line-Up
Now comes the fun part, entering a contest and drafting a lineup! XP Fantasy has multiple contests each day, with prizes ranging from “bragging rights”, to esports-specific prizes such as Riot Point gift cards, gaming consoles, and league merchandise.
After entering a contest, you have to draft a line-up, which is the most strategic and thoughtful choice you’ll have to make. As you can see below, you have to draft a lineup of 7 League of Legends (“LoL”) athletes who are competing in the contest you select. What you’re probably wondering is — don’t LoL teams only have 5 players? Good catch — yes, yes they do. The two extra positions are for your team’s MVP, who is like your team captain (they receive 1.5x more fantasy points than a regular player), and a Utility, who is your bench player/substitute (they only receive 0.5x the amount of fantasy points of a normal player).
The tricky part of drafting a lineup is picking your ideal players while staying within the predetermined amount of gold you have. This is where strategy and true skill comes into play since you have to draft your team while staying within the gold cap. In the case above, you only have 167,550 gold to make your lineup. My lineup for the contest event is shown below!
Note: Currently, XP Fantasy is only offering LoL games but they will be adding more esports in the near future.
Adding Friends
One of the most exciting parts of XP Fantasy is the ability to add friends to the platform so that you can directly compete against them in contests. All you have to do is press the friends button in the menu and search by username or account number.
Once you have some friends on the platform, you can experience the banter and competitiveness of fantasy esports first-hand!

While XP Fantasy has many more features that I didn’t discuss, these are the main ones you need to know to get started!
