Hello world! My name is Cameron Miller. I am a User Experience designer and avid Extended Reality enthusiast. My academic backgrounds lie within Psychology and Human-computer Interaction. For the last few years, I’ve been exploring this landscape with a rag-tag team of passionate technologists at Holographic Interfaces. This publication is a result of curiosity, community, appetite for design and innovation, as well as a desire to share truly resonating ideas.

Spatial technology is amazing — plain and simple. It holds the power to alter someone’s perception of the world and even teleport that person’s mind into a virtual environment. The emergence of this technology is ushering in a new era for designers, developers, and technologists alike. In recent years, the VR/AR/MR (XR) field has been booming with entertainment and business-based applications. These applications can be wonderful as they attract new users to the medium and inspire new creators. However, if you dig deep enough, you may notice a third area where XR is being explored. The implications are significant.

This third area includes topics like health care, public safety, education, scientific research, physiological and psychological therapy, rehabilitation, social change, and much more. Applications of spatial technology that fall into these topics need to be celebrated and shared across the world. Furthermore, ideation around these topics needs to be fostered and promoted. These applications of XR—the ones that effect positive social change, the ones that may provide unparalleled help to a person, the ones that can save a life, may fall into a category referred to as XR for Good.

XR for Good isn’t only a publication, but a community of people who want to help make the world a better place through spatial technology. If you are A: a person, and B: want to help make the world a better place through spatial technology — select this link to be invited to the Slack workspace!
