Jamie is an industry leader at NVIDIA for Media, Entertainment, and broadcast across the EMEA region. Having spent his entire career with a focus on end-to-end technology and workflows, he now helps NVIDIA’s customers and partners develop use cases, solutions, and deployments of accelerated systems and applications.
What’s exciting you most about the immersive industry right now?
I think the landscape of amazing studios creating platforms for immersive experiences is incredibly strong right now, and for me, the most exciting thing is the breadth of industries that they cover. We’re seeing growth for XR and immersive solutions in nearly every sector NVIDIA touches, and it’s being driven by multiple factors.
From a technical perspective, we have the rollout of 5G quickly enabling the delivery of higher quality, remotely rendered experiences to consumers, as well as enabling enterprise solutions without needing to necessarily land a lot of on-premise hardware at the point of delivery. Couple this with the latest generation GPU hardware, advancements in real-time engines like Omniverse and Unreal Engine 5, plus new techniques in streaming and you create a huge opportunity for expanding the art of the possible.
We’re now seeing immersive experiences being delivered on huge scales with greater ambition than ever before. When you see what is coming with projects like MSG’s Sphere and Outernet Global as location-based immersive experiences, the cutting edge live shows delivered on platforms like Disguise and 7th Sense, plus the amazing XR content delivered by the teams at REWIND, Dimension and many more…the future of the immersive industry is going to be amazing!
What and/or who is your source of inspiration?
As cheesy as this might sound, it really is the people closest to me who inspire me the most. My family, friends, and of course my amazing fiancé. I’m incredibly grateful to not have to look further than my home for huge inspiration from an amazing woman, scientist, artist, and incredible friend.
What is your favourite thing about what you do for a living?
Seeing the decades of incredible work done by NVIDIA researchers and engineers all over the world coming to life on our platforms and then sitting back and watching what amazing things our partners do with the technology is amazing. Being able to support the world’s leaders in the Media & Entertainment industries deliver their vision is an incredible honour.

What are you reading right now?
Cookbooks. It’s what I tend to pick up to unwind, then take that inspiration into the kitchen — or the garden if we’re firing up the BBQ! Currently, I’d recommend “Bread is Gold” by Massimo Bottura & friends and “Berber & Q” by Josh Katz. I also love books about food, travel…and whisky. Highly recommend “Chasing the Dram” by Rachel McCormick which I just re-read for the third time.
What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives?
Go on a big adventure. Something, somewhere completely out of your comfort zone. I don’t mean a holiday…something which might seem uncomfortable at first, but those sorts of trips can be the most rewarding. A week in the arctic circle with no electricity, internet, or running water, no people for miles; I can highly recommend that!
What technology could you not live without?
Fire. Not because I’m a pyromaniac…but if all else fails, you couldn’t live long without fire. Also, I love cooking over fire in any weather. In fact, I’m gonna go and light the charcoal right now for tonight’s dinner.
