Guest lecture in DesignersX on how AI and Metaverse reshaping the future?
AI is pervasive, whether we sense it or not. Staying updated has become essential for survival. We are increasingly immersed in artificially generated worlds, with the internet rapidly evolving into what is known as the metaverse. In my book, “Exploring the Metaverse”, I delve into its various forms and interpretations, usecases and challenges, and the way forward.
DesignersX, a company specializing in software development, invited me to speak about my book and discuss how AI and the metaverse will shape the future.
The interactive session was fantastic, covering a range of topics. Here are the key highlights:
🤔 Recap — Forward Looking Reflection
We began by recalling my previous session at DesignersX, Forward Looking Reflection. We had discussed the importance of reflection and how to move forward from there.
It was gratifying to see that DesignersX’s leadership took the collected insights seriously, not only growing their team but also investing in infrastructure and moving to a beautiful new office space. They have implemented interesting routines and processes, fostering a more connected way of working.
In the previous session, we also explored what it means to be a consultant, the essence of becoming an agile IT organization, and our definitions of success, growth, and satisfaction for both individuals and the organization.
Continuous learning and sharing are crucial aspects of this journey.
🪓 Sharpen the Axe
As Learning is essential for survival. I shared the story of the woodcutter to illustrate the importance of regularly sharpening our axe — enhancing our strengths and efficiency. Without continuous improvement, productivity declines despite our best efforts and intentions.
Writing this book was my way of sharpening my axe. Find your way to sharpen the axe.
📕 The Book — “Exploring the Metaverse”
To stay aware of current trends, I wrote “Exploring the Metaverse”. Although the term “metaverse” has been around for a while, its meaning is still not fully understood. It’s often defined to suit individual or organizational narratives. I aimed to demystify the metaverse, providing its building blocks, use cases, and the challenges it brings. The book also explores how AI is propelling us toward the future. Each concept is thoroughly covered in dedicated chapters.

💥 Collective Action — Ethical and Responsible Adaptation
Learning is a collective effort that matures through continuous sharpening. My book emphasizes the importance of ethical and responsible adaptation of the metaverse and emerging technologies in general. While these technologies offer great use cases and convenience, it is crucial to use them wisely and purposefully. Every technological advancement comes with a cost, and we must be mindful of it.
Industries, academic institutions, government bodies, and individuals must understand the technology, create awareness, define standards, practices and contribute to its betterment.
