If you blink long enough, you might miss a new stepping stone for the IoT revolution. The digitalized world is moving forward at such a fast pace, that it becomes a challenge to merely keep updated on the progress. At the Xsure headquarters, we thought we’d simplify the research process for you by compiling a list of the most newsworthy updates about all things IoT. See, told ya we’re good to have around.

First and foremost, let’s talk about the Healthcare market.

With the aid of IoT, doctors and nurses can segment and monitor devices in real-time. Also, systems can be more securely maintained, assessed and used to collect data about patient health and treatments. What is more, the Global Healthcare IOT Security Market was estimated at USD 4.7 billion in 2015. The growth rate at which it is expected to grow is 40% by 2021. The unexpected popularity of IoT amongst healthcare professionals happened as a result of the Cost efficiency, reliability and better health management that it brought to the system. It seems that the aforementioned popularity is only meant to increase in the coming years.

Now that we’ve settled the fact that 2021 is going to spell change for the Healthmarket, let’s talk about smart cities.

Smart cities are defined by interconnectivity, more specifically IoT devices that exchange data on a much more expansive level and that improve the efficiency of not just individual functioning but local functioning as well. The concept of smart cities will materialise into reality sooner than we think. According to a new report, more and more cities are starting to invest in IoT connectivity, with figures reaching 66% in the US.

Among the top investments, there are:

Smart meters for utilities
Intelligent traffic signals
E-governance applications
Wi-Fi kiosks
Radio frequency identification (RFID) sensors in pavement

Last but not least, if you don’t have the patience for the next decade to turn up and witness the IoT revolution, you can attend the upcoming conferences and events. The last half of 2018 is chock-a-block with events designed to get IoT and AI enthusiasts talking and collaborating. We will be attending plenty of them but for the foreseeable future, the next event on our list is the Internet of Things World Forum. Taking place on the 8th of November at Kensington Hall, London, this forum “cover areas like Emerging IoT Business Opportunities, IEEE Perspective on Global IoT Market, GE Digital IoT, and Digital Transformation, Transforming BT with IoT, Future of Industrial IoT, Focus on IoT Verticals and Monetising The IoT Ecosystems”. Part of our team will be there prepared to talk all things IoT insurance, so if you want to meet us for a chat, feel free to contact us!

Stay tuned for more IoT insurance updates. Plenty of news will be posted on here shortly!
