There is presently an enormous amount of misinformation about blockchain; people read headlines and have preconceived ideas about it. Awareness is low, and no one gets it. Suyash Sumaroo created his company Horizon Africa intending to explain technical concepts and ideas in the form of usable products.
Together with Ducorp is the concept of learning by doing, and one of the ideas we came up to explain blockchain and cryptocurrency concepts to an audience is the Hustlemania. Hustlemania is a street style show that gets people to experience blockchain in action. People get to sign up on a Hustlemania app where they upload items that they no longer need and want to trade. They later bring it at the event and have 60 seconds to present the item to an audience. If they don’t want to show the subject themselves, a host will submit on their behalf.
People in the audience get to bid using a token called Barter Units or BUNs. This event teaches participants and the public what a wallet is, how to use one and create a transaction, and generally how free markets work. The presenter that makes the best
marketing trade gets bonus buns at the end of the event. BUNS are not tokens yet but mimic blockchain experiences if this talent show works, then tokens will be issued for it on the Horizon Africa platform.
