Kush Spotlights Shane Sooben, Bean Counter
If you’re an entrepreneur or interested in startups, then you will, at some point, have to invest in the services of an accountant.
The one you choose should be experienced and knowledgeable in your particular industry to ensure a proper fit between you and your fledgling business.
One such man is Mr. Shane Soobeen representing Lancashire and Associates, of which he is a partner.
Shane Sooben graduated with a degree in Finance from the University of Mauritius and is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
With ten years of value in accounting experience at the helm of major corporations, he has much insight and knowledge in the industry. This experience includes but is not limited to his time spent as Head of Accounting for Nexteracom Property Consultants, which is one of the most successful property developers in Mauritius with over ten properties and five RES projects in their accounting portfolios.
Shane Sobeen was also one of the industry revolutionaries to functionally set up operations for Avalon Golf Estate, one of the properties of the Nexteracom group. It is an 18-hole international standard golf estate surrounded by over 150 villa plots.
Sobeen’s career then saw him advance to a managerial position at Baker Tilly (Mauritius), an independent member firm of accountants and business advisors. There he was responsible for the activities in the internal accounting department.
In 2018, he joined Lancashire and Associates, an emerging accounting firm, as a partner.
They provide accounting, tax, and advisory services to companies ranging from small to large companies based in Mauritius, in addition to international entities.
With this wealth of knowledge and experience, Sobeen’s ultimate advice to entrepreneurs and those planning startups was to stay focused. He concluded that it was essential that they persevered through adversity, and also that they differentiated themselves from their competitors in innovative ways.
