Issue #2: Updates from the Dev Cave

Welcome to a jam-packed, head-spinning, ultra-caffeinated Updates from the Dev Cave. We have so much dev goodness going on at XYO that we actually had to cut back on what to talk about this week.

Sidenote: For that crying XYO engineer in the corner who cracked the MIT Time-lock puzzle in less than 45 seconds — while driving — sorry, fam. We’ll get to you next time.

Put your seatbelts on, folks, here’s a breakdown of XYO projects and other news!

Arie and LayerOne built a mapping framework and tools roadmap:

While XYO Founder and Architect Arie Trouw was visiting the new XYO Sacramento team (formerly LayerOne), the group dug deep into the roadmap. They immediately settled on how to quickly turn the LayerOne stack into an open tool for anyone to build mapping solutions on Ethereum. In addition to the short-term roadmap, the team worked on a framework for how the two tools will begin to become part of the largest XYO toolset.

We held an XYO Network demo:

The entire XYO team, from King’s Landing (SD headquarters) to Winterfell (Sacramento) was extremely pumped to see a demo of the XYO network in action. This was a breakthrough for XYO as a company, and a real moment for the team. Here’s what our own Lord of Winterfell, XYO Sacramento’s Graham McBain, had to say:

“Seeing such brilliant work consistently coming from the San Diego team inspires us to work harder and more intelligently to keep up. This breakthrough is more than inspiring, it’s another step in our journey to build something larger than ourselves.”

We have a brand new website:

We’ve released a Cooperative Data Handling white paper:

How do you incentivize good behavior on the blockchain? XYO crypto! Resident Research and Data Scientist Erik Saberski came up with a plan to reward users who share correct info across the XYO Network, and wrote a white paper to explain it all. XYO Devs in the Community

Just over a week ago, XYO Network Founder and Architect Arie Trouw teamed up with Blockchain Architect and R&D Lead Sajida Zouarhi of Consensys for a deep dive into the decentralized ecosystem. Like a pair of tech superheros with the Power of Ultimate Knowledge, the two took questions, doled out answers, and gave the audience plenty to think about.

Dozens of people poured into San Diego headquarters for the talk, which covered some of the most exciting areas of blockchain today. Some of the questions discussed included:

• What is the cost of privacy in a decentralized ecosystem?
• How is blockchain technology forcing businesses to redefine their models in a global economy?
• Will the concept of borders, from a physical, geo standpoint, even matter in the future, or will people be aligned by interest instead?

The talk was a massive hit, and it’s just one of many in the works!

XY Oracles not only play a huge part in the XYO Network, the essentially are the XYO Network. And since all-around XYO genius Arie Trouw knows the ins and outs of how they work, he headlined the San Diego Blockchain Developers Meetup to talk about all things XY Oracle.

At “Intro to Oracles”, an EdgeSecure Office event in downtown San Diego, Arie started with the fundamentals — what are oracles — and went deeper by explaining why they are important, what the difference is between centralized and decentralized ones, and more.
