Play-to-earn Doesn’t Need to Be Complicated

Play-to-earn is a fairly simple concept. You play some sort of online game, and you earn something that has monetary value, usually some kind of cryptocurrency. Sounds great in theory, but there are several problems that most play-to-earn concepts have — they’re complicated, they’re expensive, and they don’t have a model built for success. So why try a play-to-earn concept? Because some of them are actually worth your time.

There’s a learning curve

Most play-to-earn scenarios involve some sort of NFT, usually in the form of a “playing card” that you need to purchase in order to participate. The first issue is that many people just won’t have the know-how to buy an NFT. They’ll need to buy a crypto wallet, set up an account, purchase crypto just to be able to buy the NFT in the first place — that’s all well and good for people who are familiar with the concept, but not for newcomers who may have a passing interest in the idea. Still, this is just too big of a barrier to getting started for the average person to take the time to understand, in order to possibly earn some extra money on the side, or even for fun.

It’s prohibitively expensive to get started

So you want to buy an NFT character or card and start playing a game like Axie Infinity for example. First, you’ll need to buy a character, which isn’t particularly cheap — some characters can cost hundreds of dollars, the cheapest still costs around $20-$50 dollars. So if you’re going to commit to this type of play-to-earn game, you need to invest money upfront just to get started. This expense automatically hinders many people who may be interested in the play-to-earn concept from even getting started, since not everyone has expendable income to use on something they already don’t inherently understand. Why pay hundreds of dollars to play a game to try and earn money when there are better and easier alternatives?

The XYO Network is a play-to-earn model that works

While play-to-earn is a relatively new concept, XYO has been ahead of the curve and has successfully executed the idea for several years now. The COIN app, powered by XYO, was launched in February 2019 and has on-boarded four million users to date. Unlike the current trend of play-to-earn concepts, COIN has a relatively simple concept, with a very low barrier for entry (pretty much no barrier, really).

Here’s how COIN works:

  1. Download the APP — All that you need to do to get started with COIN is simply download the COIN App. You don’t need to buy a wallet for cryptocurrency to get started, and there’s no need to buy any token. You download the app, and you can start playing and earning tokens right away.
  2. Start playing and start earning — When you download the COIN app, you agree to provide geospatial location data and other data for the XYO network. In turn for your data, the app pays you for your information. All that you need to do is follow the on-screen instructions, and you can literally start earning money. You can choose to trade your rewards for cryptocurrency, or you can trade your rewards for sweepstakes entries like once in a lifetime vacations, or even spend your earnings in the marketplace for things like a Nintendo Switch, Bluetooth earbuds, and a lot more.
  3. Building the XYO Network — When you become part of COIN, you also help build the XYO Network. XYO provides geospatial location data that developers can utilize in their applications — that could be anything from knowing exactly where a package is at any time, to knowing the temperature in an exact location.

XYO and COIN— play-to-earn that’s simple

There are a lot of skeptics out there that object to the idea of play-to-earn, and say that it will fail over time — XYO has already proved them wrong. Millions of people have earned money, won prizes, and purchased goods simply by using the COIN app. As previously stated, COIN has been around since 2019 and continues to grow and pay people for their geospatial location data. There isn’t a big learning curve, a complicated process to learn to start, or any investment to get started — in fact, if you can use a tablet or smartphone to download an app, and you can click around a screen, that’s all you need to get started. Try it out yourself and discover what over four million people have already figured out — COIN is the way to play-to-earn that actually works.
