Dear XYO HODL’ers, foundering members, and congenial citizens of the crypto universe. If XYO was a cocktail, how would you make it? If you could mix…

  • Mind-blowing technology
  • Hard-working employees
  • Genuine love for the XYO community
  • Clear vision for the future
  • The “Sword of Pan” from the movie Hook

… you’d duplicate our magic formula (and no, we’re not kidding about the sword).

It’s time to lift our glasses to the last two weeks, because we have so much good news to announce, we’re celebrating!

PARTNERSHIPS & TECH

In the future, vehicles moving freight — trains, planes and trucks, mostly — will be interconnected on the blockchain. But before this happens, someone needs to create rules, standards and protocols.

The Blockchain in Transport Alliance (BiTA) is creating the guidelines on how freight and blockchain will work together. And we’ve partnered with them to deliver the location data that helps freight vehicles “see” each other and interact.

BiTA already counts big names as alliance members including UPS, Penske and Google, and now they’ve added one more: XYO Network. Read about the alliance on Medium.

Most physical objects can’t exchange currency or value, or connect to the blockchain. This isn’t a huge issue right now, but it will be — especially when the world becomes truly blockchain-centric and far more interconnected and dependent on smart contracts. It’s coming, folks.

Anyledger has created a digital wallet for the blockchain that connects physical objects to the blockchain — any blockchain — so these objects can exchange data, value, and information, and use smart contracts. And we’re pairing up with them to provide location data for these exchanges.

To find out more about this partnership, view our Medium post.

Most developers know the pain of deploying a decentralized application (dApp). Too many tasks, too many steps, too much time.

So we’ve created something to take the pain from the process. Meet Dapploy — our one-click dApp deployer.

We haven’t even finished the documentation for it, and we’re not yet ready for an “official” launch, but you can go into Github right now and get the code, and start playing around with it.

SPATIAL NEWS

Spatial. We told you our first convention is going to be a huge thrill, filled with ridiculously engaging speakers, top-secret presentations, prizes, camaraderie, and a Niagara Falls-level cascade of XYO and blockchain knowledge.

But we haven’t told you how to sign up and get tickets. Yet.

Get ready. On September 14th, at noon, our registration page goes live. You’ll be able to lock down your spot at our first XYO convention, and get important info on everything from speakers to panels to special guests to major events that you can only experience at the show.

So, join our email list in the meantime! We’ll send you the link to the registration page when we’re closer to going live. In the meantime, enjoy lots of exciting updates on what we have planned!

Scott and Arie hit the airwaves!

XYO Co-Founders Arie Trouw and Scott Scheper on the radio? YES, PLEASE.

The pair were interviewed on San Diego’s own BISTalk radio show last week, where they dished on the XYO Network, blockchain, and how all this great tech ties together. To listen to the show, just visit the BISTalk website.

Kevin and Dan do Blockshow Americas!

When you show up at the airport in nearly identical outfits, you know it’s going to be a good show!

XYO Head of Communications Dan Cruz and Senior Marketing Manager Kevin Stanley hit Vegas last week, for the first Blockshow Americas conference. The pair had loads of meetings, made lots of new friends, and sparked some new partnerships, which we’ll announce soon!

Five new people join XYO!

Tyler Arnold

Support Development Manager

Tyler Arnold is a customer service and IT dynamo who has worked in a wide range of businesses, from action sports to consumer electronics. At XYO and XY Findables, he specializes in architecting the best in-class corporate help desk systems available. So when our customer service system is humming away and our awesome agents deliver the best help possible, Tyler plays a big role. He is also a long-time XY Findables owner!

More cool facts about Tyler: He received his Interdisciplinary Studies Degree at Arizona State University, and in his spare time you can find him with his two dogs — a pug and a doberman — which even he admits is an odd pairing.

Bob Nies

Sr. Android Developer

When Bob started programming Android, it was still in Beta. Now 12 years and 24,000 different Android devices later, he has seen and done it all with mobile devices. He spent years architecting and programming Android for major retailers, insurance companies, medical and financial institutions, before coming to XYO.

Bob also has a software patent with his name on it, and possibly more on the way. Chances are, your Android device might be running a piece of his code!

Bob spends his spare time building and programming custom pinball machines. Yes, just like the ones in an arcade. And no, they are not for sale.

Dan Cruz

Head of Communications

Dan is a media mastermind, content consumer, idea-originator, public speaker, team builder and people connector. Prior to joining XYO, he served as the Vice President of Public Relations and Communications for Competitor Group, Inc., a San Diego-based active lifestyle media and event company.

For nearly a decade, he traveled the world while working for the Rock ’n’ Roll Marathon Series, enjoying a front row seat as the media industry evolved into a digital-first world where content is king and compelling storytelling reigns supreme.

A lifelong Californian, he holds a Bachelor of Science in Communications from San Diego State University. He lives with his wife Aimee and their two boys, Sando and Mannix, in Ocean Beach.

Stephanie Trinh

Head of Social Media

Throughout her many years of agency experience ranging from creative to digital and data-driven, then building her own social media empire, Stephanie Trinh is now the Head of Social Media at XYO Network. And she’s on a mission to transform the way social media marketing is perceived in the blockchain world.

After having the opportunity to work with clients such as Harrah’s Resort Southern California, Rock ’n’ Roll Marathon Series, Westfield UTC, LEGOLAND California and ProFlowers, Stephanie has learned one major thing: social media is not about the mechanics, but the psychology of how we approach our tactics and implement them in social media. Because of this, Stephanie has become obsessed with learning more about language, psychology and consumer behavior to create social media strategies.

Bryce Paul

Business Development Manager

Bryce is developing enterprise and blockchain partnerships at XYO, with the aim of generating awareness, increasing adoption, and implementing real-world use cases of XYO.

A graduate of UC Santa Barbara, he has previously worked at a blockchain-based video platform, as well as a media consulting firm. He stays in tune with the crypto markets, and keeps his guitar and chess skills sharp.

Want dev updates?

For tech/dev updates, keep an eye out for our Update From The Dev Cave, which comes out every two weeks, on Thursdays.

Thanks for joining us in this celebratory issue of This Week at XYO! We’ll check back in two weeks with a fresh batch of news, but in the meantime, stay safe, keep your head down, and HODL!!!!
