As you can probably guess, the entire team is pulling together to put the finishing touches on our Spatial and MainNet preparations. This week’s been all about tomorrow, so I thought I’d use this week’s Update from the Dev Cave to talk about how we got this far.

Personally, it’s been amazing seeing all of this progress. The company’s growing by leaps and bounds — our dev team has gone from 3 people to 15 in less than a year — and we’re just getting started. Here’s a rough breakdown of some of our milestones:

The Whitepaper

I can’t give an exact date on when the XYO Network went from a cool concept to an active project, but we began to finalize the XYO Whitepaper in January. The whitepaper went through a few iterations before its launch. Raul Jordan, one of our earliest advisors, had a huge influence on the final product. As development progressed, we also released a security-focused red paper and a technically detailed yellow paper.

The Hackathon

The first real XYO Network proof-of-concept was at a Hackathon we hosted in March. Dozens of participants used tools we provided to create an early version of a Bound Witness Interaction to pay parking meters using XYO. This was our first chance to see the XYO Network in action, and we learned a lot!

Growing the Team

As development began in earnest, we realized we needed to broaden our development team. We’ve brought developers and data scientists from all over the world to join us in San Diego, and we’ve worked with some of the brightest minds in blockchain to help us solve specific problems and develop specific tools. We also made an amazing acquisition by bringing on the team at LayerOne to help us build out the network.

Software Development Kits

We released our Bluetooth Software Development Kit in August, and since then we’ve released SDKs for most of the nodes in the Network — we’ll be releasing the Diviner SDK soon! We’ve also launched the beta version of the XYO Network Android app, which will be one of the most important components of the Network.

The First Round Trip Interaction

In September, we completed the first round trip of the Network, meaning we completed every step of the process, from a Bound Witness Interaction to a Diviner’s query. This was the big milestone for us — it proved that our tools WORK.

The Launch of MainNet

This is it. This is what we’ve been working towards. On Friday, November 9, the MainNet goes live. We’ll have a fully functional network, although there’s still work to be done building out and improving its individual components.

Thanks everyone for all your support! See you at Spatial!
