XYO and Enigio Time: Bringing Integrity to the World of Information!

It’s no secret that many of the items in our homes come from lands far, far away. Right now, you may be sporting earbuds made in China, wearing shoes from Bangladesh, and sipping coffee from beans harvested in Africa. We’re global now, it’s all good.

But have you ever thought about how these items made their way to you?

Enigio Time has, and we’re partnering with them to protect the integrity of documents and information from all over. But their shipping story is what really got our attention.

When items are sent across the world, shoes for example, they often travel by freighter, aka cargo ship. And the journey is never really that straightforward. So naturally, a lot of people are involved in getting these shoes from point A to point B.

And this all results in paperwork. A huge, huge stack of paperwork.

Each time cargo leaves one place and goes somewhere else, a document is created. When the shoes leave the factory, there’s paperwork. When the shoes go from a truck and onto a ship, paperwork. When those shoes arrive in port, yes….more paperwork.

All of this paperwork is the story of the journey of your shoes from, say, Myanmar to Louisiana. So if there’s a mistake, it’s difficult to track down where the mistake originated.

It’s human nature. When you have paperwork from so many different people, some who may not care all that much about getting things right, you’re going to have a problem.

So…picture this. Your shoes are sitting in a box inside a shipping container on the deck of a massive freighter — in another country. The freighter is supposed to leave within hours. But for some reason, an extra zero was added to a document or a word was spelled wrong. So now your shoes are stuck in port because no one can figure out where the mistake came from, and what the information was supposed to be.

Imagine trying to track down the person who made the mistake, when it could be one of 20 people in five different countries. The paper documents aren’t easy to read, so unraveling this mystery is definitely going to be painful. And all this time, someone is going to be breathing down your neck and asking you when these shoes are finally going to make their way to Target or Wal-Mart or Nordstrom.

See the problem?

In a perfect world, everyone uses the same documents and software. Information is captured digitally and immune to mistakes or hacking.

Until we get there, Enigio Time is stepping in. They’re taking documents and storing that information on the blockchain. They’re tracking a journey, and we’re going to help the do it.

Enigio Time info will be time-stamped. But we’re making it better by providing proof of location, so that people can know what the information is, when, and where it was created.

We’re excited about this project and excited about this partner, and we’re proud to welcome them to the XYO family!
