The Burden

What we had was magical
You were charming
Always so amazing.

I thought this was love
Never knew it could fall apart
Didn’t realize how fragile it was.

Yet now I try so hard
To keep us from breaking
And this has taken its toll.

I have realized at last
This isn’t worth the effort
Our time together is over.

You’re just a burden
I have to carry along
I’m ready to drop you now.
