PLANET POV- Another Yabberz Alternative Emphasizing Community is LIVE….Take a Look
Clearly Medium has proven to be a fine site to post our stories and some are finding that an inviting prospect especially as those stories might come to the attention of a wide audience.
But others have been asking for a place where the development of the community comes first.
BIG NEWS! When Yabberz closes its doors in a week or so, there is another option for those who want to continue blogging on a site where community building is a primary goal in company with honest, respectful dialogue.
The Planet (as it is affectionately referred to for short) has been around for 10 years. I have been a member of PlanetPOV since 2011. It feels a lot like Yabberz. The Planet, in honor of its 10th anniversary, has been relaunched with a new design and its leadership has enthusiastically invited Yabberz Members to take a look and, if they like what they see, join up.
The three principal founders of The Planet, Kalima, KQuark and AdLib, founded PlanetPOV to create an open, friendly and thoughtful community where folks could express their opinions on whatever really matters to them in an environment that displayed a strong commitment to free expression. They each had their own experiences at sites that were heavy-handed with censorship, allowed trolls to invade and attack earnest members and held up the opinions of professional media pundits as superior to the opinions of real people (noting that you wouldn’t want a typical pundit’s batting average if you played ball).
Everything that members like myself found attractive about The Planet will still be there but there will be a new, modern look and easier functionality. The re-launch is today Monday, Memorial Day, May 27th. The Planet”s administrator, AdLib, has put forth this invitation saying: “We hope you join us to discover the new Planet. We’ll have an open bar and a soft serve ice cream station for the kids. Virtually, of course.”
There is a Quick Start Guide in the FAQ menu that describes the Planet’s functions and how to do everything you want to do at the new PlanetPOV. There are two recommended videos that provide you with tutorial on posting AND a printable Manual.
As AdLib says: “We’re very excited about bringing you our new site on our 10th Anniversary and looking forward to the next 10 years of thoughtful discussions, respectful debates and enjoyable chats right at PlanetPOV.”
