One big factor in the decision of many owners to purchase their super yacht is the ability to throw a party every now and again. Some take this exercise to a new level, particularly where entertaining their fellow celebrities is concerned. Here we take a look at three yacht parties that will go down in history as a few of the best ever.

1. P Diddy — Ibiza

The rap music and fashion mogul made Ibiza his home during the summer months, and the parties he regularly threw aboard his luxury yacht became the stuff of legends, being the place to be for the celebrity set including supermodels Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, pop star Justin Bieber and rapper Kanye West. From the early Noughties, Diddy has visited the Mediterranean’s party island, and is credited with being a factor in the destination’s journey from being an underground dance music mecca to a celebrity hot spot which attracts the kings and queens of mainstream.

2. Ronald Perelman — St Barts

The investment tycoon became popular for his lavish birthday parties held on a 188 foot yacht near the Caribbean island of St Barts. It could be said that the entertainment Perelman chose for the bashes was A-list: Barry Manilow was flew in to sing at his 60th, while according to Forbes magazine, past guests have included luminaries such as “Microsoft billionaire Paul Allen, actors Denzel Washington and Eddie Murphy, and rock star Jon Bon Jovi”.

3. Paul Allen — Cannes

The tech supremo can afford to throw a decent get togethers, and he certainly lived up to his reputation as a generous host when he invited a few household names to his party in Cannes. On his 414 foot ‘Octupus’ yacht, Allen welcomed the likes of actors John C. Reilly, Kelly Rutherford and Jessica Lowndes, according to Business Insider, plus models Melissa Bolona and Karlie Kloss, to a Bollywood-themed bash. The yacht parties that surround the days of the world famous Film Festival are integral to evening activities, so for Allen’s to be mentioned as being among the best is a testament to his hosting abilities.
