Yala, the modular and programmable layer for Bitcoin, is excited to announce a strategic integration with Babylon, a native Bitcoin staking and timestamping protocol. This collaboration marks a major step forward in building a more robust and interoperable ecosystem, leveraging Bitcoin’s unparalleled security features.

Babylon is at the forefront of blockchain innovation, extending Bitcoin’s Proof of Work (PoW) security and decentralization properties to PoS chains, Layer 2 solutions, Actively Verified Service (AVS), and decentralized node networks. Babylon is also launching a Cosmos SDK L1 that is IBC enabled and secured by Bitcoin staking. Babylon will act as a coordinator between the Bitcoin blockchain and consumers of Bitcoin staking and timestamping. This forward-thinking approach aims to secure and decentralize the future, bolstering the entire blockchain ecosystem’s security.

Yala addresses interoperability challenges, offering comprehensive Bitcoin DeFi services such as trading, staking, insurance, and issuing YalaUSD, a BRC-20 stablecoin. This stablecoin, backed by Bitcoin in Collateralized Debt Positions (CDPs) or vaults, enhances liquidity and utility, fostering a connected DeFi environment.

This integration positions Yala and Babylon to create a secure, integrated, and user-centric Bitcoin ecosystem. Yala extends Babylon Bitcoin staking to a wider audience. Yala users can participate in BTC lending, and the collaterals (Bitcoin) can be staked to Babylon directly. Yala users can also use their Inscriptions/UTXO assets as collateral to borrow BTC to stake in Bayblon. Together, Yala and Babylon are pioneering a more innovative and inclusive Bitcoin DeFi ecosystem.

Furthermore, the integration is poised to explore additional integrations, including the development of DeFi applications based on Yala and Babylon’s protocols, vastly improving interoperability and services.

About Babylon

Babylon is a blockchain project that designs security sharing protocols for the decentralized economy, founded in 2022 by Stanford Professor David Tse and Dr. Fisher Yu. Professor Tse is a member of the U.S. Academy of Engineering. He is renowned as the inventor of the legendary proportional-fair scheduling algorithm for wireless communications, and is the recipient of prestigious awards such as the IEEE Claude E. Shannon Award and the IEEE Richard W. Hamming Medal. The project is led by a team of consensus protocol researchers and experienced Layer-1 engineers from around the world.

Babylon’s mission is to scale Bitcoin to secure the decentralized economy. To achieve this, Babylon utilizes the three primary facets of Bitcoin: its asset, its reliable timestamping service, and its most censorship-resistant blockspace in the world. To leverage these facets, Babylon is developing three innovative security-sharing protocols: Bitcoin Staking Protocol, Bitcoin Timestamping Protocol, and Bitcoin Data Availability Protocol. Through these pioneering protocols, Babylon envisions a more secure and decentralized future.
