GoodData at YAPC::Europe 2016

GoodData Perl developers started attending YAPC::EU in 2012 in Frankfurt and we haven’t looked back since then. 2013 Kiev, 2014 Sofia and 2015 Granada and now YAPC::EU 2016 in Cluj-Napoca.
We’ve been one of the main sponsors of the first Czech Perl Workshop in 2014 . Our developers are active members of Brno Perl Mongers and Prague Perl Mongers groups. We encourage our developers to share their skills and contribute to the community and our patches are already part of many Perl, CPAN and other Open Source projects.
Honza “Choroba” is our new reinforcement on the Prague development team. He presented at YAPC::EU last year and had a nice talk ready for you this year too. Michal “mj41” Jurosz was at his fifth visit ar YAPC::EU and he had been looking forward to meet many friendly Perl faces and celebrities again.
In time for the next big Perl event we also decided to support the community outside the Czech Republic by becoming a YAPC::EU sponsor. We started with a small sponsorship but hope to strengthen our support in the years to come. We’re also looking forward to hire more active members of the Perl and CPAN community as we are still growing and expanding our business.
Our company is Czech born but Silicon Valley centric. Backed and supervised by the best such as Andreessen Horowitz, General Catalyst Partners, Intel Capital, Google Enterprise, Tenaya Capital, TOTVS, … and CEO and founder Roman Staněk. Roman Staněk is well known as a founder and CEO of NetBeans software development platform. Roman’s latest venture GoodData was founded in 2007 and raised more than 100 mil USD from investors.
Our Engineering & Operations, Support and Services teams are located mainly in the Czech Republic. Since our founding we’ve been focused on SaaS in the cloud. Our platform supports partners and customers end to end 24/7. We are proponents of the DevOps model and besides Perl you can find JavaScript, Erlang, Java, C and even Ruby and Python developers across our teams. Perl has really strong roots here. Velociraptor serves much of the GoodData platform’s REST API, its entire metadata server, its proprietary MAQL language and nearly all of its datamarts. Our pool of Perl developers is constantly growing. We invest a lot of effort in refactoring our code and automated testing to support all enterprise requirements.
