Jessica Wildfire is the best writer on Medium.

There, I said it and stand by it.

Her writing is challenging — it pushes you to the edge of your comfort zone and yanks you over like a rollercoaster going off the tracks. It’s exciting, it’s dangerous, and it’s something you can’t get enough of.

Her writing is the kind that makes you question your beliefs, even if you don’t personally agree with everything she says (as in my case).

Jessica isn’t just some writer, she’s dynamite.

That said, even the best of us can be wrong, and Jessica is dead wrong about Medium’s new CEO Tony Stubblebine and the rules he’s implementing.

In her post titled “Okay, Medium. I Get It. I’m Not Good Enough,” Jessica has an axe to grind. She’s angry, and rightly so in some regards, but here’s the Tl;dr:

  • Medium treats its writers like shit
  • Medium doesn’t treat popular female writers fairly
  • Medium has a hard-on for “esoteric horseshit”
  • The Algorithm is broken
  • Medium’s new CEO allows bullying on the platform
