My sleep is a glint of light on a broken glass away

A maddening concoction

Growing up, I used to think the stars graced the winter night sky only for me. Who am I kidding? I still think the same. But can you blame me? They shine right above my rooftop!

But hey, growing up, I also used to think only I existed on this planet. And other people stray in and out of existence as per my interactions with them. We all have wild thoughts growing up, is what I’m trying to say.

Though my wild thoughts tended to become weird (using calcium from the nails I cut religiously every Sunday to bring dead people back to life; 2012, circa), some thoughts just became a source of peace and joy. Like this thought I got when I was staring at today’s winter night sky like a creep — these stars shine just for me, don’t they? :)

Hahaha, kidding. That is not what I thought at all.

Looking at the scattered stars …

  • some trying to take the shape of a bear and some shooting an arrow by arranging themselves like a hunter,
  • fading galaxies (okay, ONE galaxy),
  • a couple of planets(?),
  • and absolutely brilliantly and randomly scattered stars

… all of them merging with the civilization lights to create a beautiful scenic view — made me feel peaceful and happy.

I did not think they were shining for me. No, I thought about how they come together every night. And how happy and excited they make me. And how absolutely fucking wonderful it is that they exist. And how absolutely fucking wonderful it is that the winter calmed down enough for me to enjoy that moment. Absolutely wonderful.

Wonderful enough to write about.
