How Safeway Saved the Day

The Story. We were at a Safeway supermarket in Oakland when we were struggling to find dayquil for my coughing. Normally we would continue checking every aisle until we find it. To our surprise, a Safeway stock person actually came up to us and asked “Find everything ok?” He then found the dayquil for us in 2 seconds. Saved us the extra 3 minutes it would’ve took us to locate it.

Key Takeaway: Initiating help. Maybe it’s because we’re from NYC but this was the first time we ever had anyone initiate to help us find something at a supermarket. Back home, we only get this level of service from looking for an iphone at the apple store. +1 for Safeway

Believe it or not, it makes a HUGE difference to have someone offer you help vs. you having to ask for it. Be sure to map out your customer’s journey thru your store or service and locate points of contact where you can initiate help.
