What is Machine Learning?

Hello everyone I am Bennison, In this article, we are going to learn about what machine learning is. This article will only cover the very basic things about machine learning.

The goal of machine learning is to make the machines act more and more like humans.

Machine learning is the growing technology that enables a computer to learn automatically from past data.

We are surrounded by humans who can learn everything from their experience with learning capability. Like this machine learning enables a machine to automatically learn from the data, improve performance from experiences, and predict things without being explicitly programmed.

For example, machine learning is making our day-to-day life easy from self-driving cars to Amazon virtual assistant ‘Alexa’

History of machine learning

In 1950, a person (Alan Turning) published a seminar paper “Computer Machinery and Intelligence”. In this paper, he asked the question “Can Machines Think?”.

The duration from 1974 to 1988 is called AI winter. Because in this duration lot of AI-related research has happened.

AI (Artificial intelligence): Artificial intelligence acts like humans, it is simply a machine. AI is basically better at doing one task than humans.

Machine Learning (ML): Machine learning is a subset of Artificial intelligence. Machine learning is an approach to try and achieve artificial intelligence through systematic.

Deep Learning: Deep learning or neural networks is one of the techniques for implementing machine learning. Basically, it is like a type of algorithm.

Data Science: Data Science simply means analyzing the data and doing some process on that data.

As depicted in the above image, Data Science is correlated with AI, machine learning, and deep learning. So for example, since machine learning and data science both are one-to-one correlated, we can’t do one without the other.

Machine learning is used in a wide range of industries and applications due to its ability to analyze a large number of datasets, recognize patterns, and make predictions without explicit programming. It is used in Healthcare, Security, Education, Marketing, Analytics, NLP, etc.

I hope you enjoyed this article about machine learning and its history. Thanks for reading this article! 😊📖🤖
