Inspired by Ricky Bascom’s “Lil Boy”
Damn I feel good today.
I only slept about 3.5 hours but woke up feeling juiced up and ready to get some words down, to work, to create. Lots of stuff feeding the morning buzz, but most of all I think it’s this young guy named Ricky Bascom and his buddies.
No, I’m not joking.
I found his stuff last night on the Twitter feed of Hotep Jesus. The energy of Bascom and his friends had me laughing like a slack-jawed yokel at a greased pig contest.
The whole world is going crazy right now. Stressed. Muh doom ‘n gloom. “The whole world is full of hate and division and politics and blah blah blah”…the nightmare, bullshit vision of CNN and Fox News can indeed start to seem like reality if you forget to turn your head and look outside at the real people in the real world.
Times might be tough, but there’s still plenty of laughter out there.
Bascom’s “Lil Boy” just got me smiling. That’s all. Seeing him and his friends bounce around to their music put me in a sunny state of mind. It’s about as simple as that.
The young guy’s got legit talent and charisma, as well. Good start, too, getting retweeted by the mighty Hotep Jesus, who’s now known for many things but who got his early break working for none other than 50 Cent. Not a bad start for Bascom.
I just dig the energy of this video. It put me in a good spot. That’s about all I have to say. I’m feeling good today and digging the energy of “Lil Boy” and wanted to share.
Life is supposed to be fun. Don’t forget it.
