As 2017 ends, I reflect on what I build, what I attended, what I learned, what I taught and what I want to do in 2018.

2017

January

  • Published my first app, UPK, which uses NYC Open Data to show public universal pre-kindergarten schools.
  • Organized a Women Who Code Meetup event featuring women in iOS.

February

March

  • Attended iOSCon in London on a scholarship.
  • Published my second app, theGrindTimer, a version of a Pomodoro timer for productivity.
  • Taught a two week front-end development course to 9th and 10th grade students.

April

  • Published a second sticker pack, Sakink.

May

June

July

  • Started documenting/blogging the daily white-boarding problems I solved.
  • Started working on a ube-everything app with Jhantelle Belleza.

August

  • Updated my website with Bootstrap and raining tacos.

September

October

November

  • Learned C#.
  • Familiarized myself with the Visual Studio IDE.
  • Learned how to write (and love) unit tests.

December

  • Published my third app, I See I Say, a kindergarten sight word flash card app.

2018 Goals

  • Extend one of my apps for the Apple Watch.
  • Create an Amazon Alexa skill.
  • Go easier on myself — not everyone learns the same way.
  • Make that anti-mansplaining app I talked about and be sure to include tests for it.
  • Figure out RxSwift.
  • Build a mobile app with React Native and ship it to Google Play store.

What are your goals? What did you accomplish?
