Though using electronic documents in our daily life has become increasingly popular, we still need to print a bunch of paperwork in offices, schools, hospitals, and so on. So as one of the most used office supplies for printing, paper and ink and toner cartridges always cost a lot. In this post, we will show you some tips on how to save money on printing.

1. Print on Both Sides of The Paper

Printing on both sides of the paper can cut your paper usage in half, which will surely help reduce printing costs.

2. Print in Draft Mode

When you only need to print something for your reference, high-quality printing is not necessary. It’s recommended to change the print quality to draft. The draft mode can print quickly and, more importantly, use less ink or toner, which makes your printer cartridge last longer. To set up your printer to print in draft mode, follow the below steps:

a. Open the document you want to print on your computer.
b. Click on “Print” and choose the printer you use from in the print dialog box. And then click on “Properties” or “Preferences” on the right side.

c. Click “Graphics” and select On to turn on the Draft mode or “EconoMode”. Then click “OK” to save the setting.

d. Finally, you can print your document in draft mode.

Note: This is a general guide you can follow. But the steps to set up your printer to print in draft mode may vary depending on the brand and model of your printer. If you’re having trouble finding the print quality or print mode option, consult your printer’s user manual or contact the manufacturer’s customer support for help.

3. Use Grayscale Mode

When you don’t need to print your color documents in color, you can turn on the Grayscale mode. This can help you reduce the usage of color ink and toner. And color ink and toner cartridges are more expensive than black ink and toner in general. The steps to turn on Grayscale mode is similar to turning on the draft mode:

Follow the a and b steps above, then choose “Grayscale”.

4. Finish Your Print Job at Once

When you have multiple documents to print, it’s better to print them in bulk to make it a one-time startup and operation for the printer. This is a healthier action for your printer and is friendly to your budget.

5. Use Non-genuine Ink or Toner Cartridges.

This can be the most effective way to reduce the cost of ink and toner for printing. Many people have concern that 3-rd party ink and toner cartridges may not work well or cause damage to the printer. Indeed, there are some poor-quality compatible printer cartridges in the market which produce bad outputs. On the contrary, you can also easily find some trusted bands on the Internet that provide high-quality compatible ink and toner cartridges at friendly prices. They work seamlessly with your printer and deliver crisp and consistent printing. So it is important to buy cartridges from a trusted ink and toner cartridge supplier if you want to reduce your cost of printing by using compatible cartridges.
