Week 11 & 12

Over the last two weeks, we did a lot of data clean up. We talked to a lot of users. We double checked everything. The developers cleaned out the GitHub issues. And I obsessed over everything possible without driving myself crazy. (I mostly succeeded at that.)
There’s not much else to say right now. I’m working on writing out a post-project review & can’t wait to share!
The next project is a big one. I’ve already begun initial qualitative analysis, with the intent of answering the question: “What should be our goals in the next big website redesign?”
Well, it turns out the website itself is “fine”. It’s the internal processes & internal communication that need refining. So instead of taking on a redesign of our (marketing) website, we’re going to dive deeper into the world of hubs/intranets/dashboards/etc.
But that project is huge. So we’re taking our time defining what it may look like. How we may approach it. And how to do so strategically and timely. We’re having a small kick off meeting this week to start defining those things.
Meanwhile, I’ll be reading the NN/g’s 2017 Intranet Design Annual report for inspiration and direction.
Over the next month my hope is to:
- Read the NN/g report
- Begin working on our content style guide, starting with defining our Message Architecture
- Define a project scope for this yet-to-be-defined project
- Beginning the (exciting!) project of defining a fully fleshed out user flow — specifically a student user flow, from prospective and application through graduation and beyond.
- And, finally, continuing a student research project, which I began last week via a general survey
I love UX. It never ends. There’s always more to do.
