It’s all puns. That’s it. The end.

My idea for a club for Owl Life is a pun based debate team. Now, it’s debatable as to this club is really something that would interest people, but what’s the issue? Now, we may be judgy, but who doesn’t love a good pun?

Debate gives students an opportunity to develop public speaking skills, express opinions on difficult topics, and build a strong network of both communication and associates. Now, here is where my beautiful idea of the puns comes in. For some, debate topics are considered boring, or a waste of time. Now, I personally do not see this as up for debate. Puns give people a way to slip in witty or funny remarks, and keep an audience engaged, while also resulting in a subconscious “pun off” with the opposite team, on top of the typical debate format. The only thing similar already created in Owl Life as a registered student organization (RSO) is the Jack Haley Speech and Debate Team, but they are in the traditional form of debating, no puns involved, all business. The name for my team? I am glad you asked. We are Arguably the best- In pursuit of the dispute. With a name like that, how can we loose? Prove us wrong on the way to say tomato (because we say it tomato, you’re just wrong).

This photo is everyone after reading my post.
