Bored People’s Club start a summoning ritual
The name is exactly as it sounds. This is a club for anyone who ends up being bored on the Kennesaw campus.
When people first move to college, they may be unsure of what to do when they have extra free time. They could end up searching for many clubs all around campus, but they may never find one that fits. At this point what can they do? If they don’t do any clubs or organizations, they may become bored, and if they join a club that they don’t like, they will become unhappy. Situations like this are what the bored person’s club is made for. The bored person’s club would be an all-inclusive group. As long as you are a student at Kennesaw State university, you are welcome to join the crew. There are no special requirements to join this club. You don’t need to audition or complete a special test to earn a spot in this club. As long as you are bored you are always welcome in the bored person’s club.
The main goal of the bored person’s group is entertainment. Without entertainment the bored person’s group would be unable to solve the problem that leads all of its members to join. The new problem however is how to entertain everyone. Each individual person that eats, sleeps, and breathes, have different things that entertain them in one way or another. The most important part of each person’s preferences is the overlap. The parts where different members agree that something is a good idea or would entertain them. Finding where the bored people’s club members agree is integral for an interesting experience throughout.
You may be asking at this point: how are we going to find out what each members sees as entertainment. The answer is simple. At the very first meeting of each year the bored people’s club hosts, all of the people who attend will be given a sheet where they can list out everything they find interesting, and submit ideas for the bored people’s club to attend or make a reality. If someone joins later in the year, they will be given a sheet to fill out as well. With this practice in place, it will be easy to find out which ideas occur the most and to form a plan to try those first. One thing the club recognizes is that if we only plan to do the most popular ones that there will be people who feel left out. In order to increase the overall belonging of all members every third event will be one of the ones with the least votes. This way, the people who suggested it get their event created, and the other members can experience a wider variety of things and can potentially expand their interests.
An important thing to note is that this is not one or two people deciding what will happen out of all the plans submitted. The bored people’s club is a democracy, that will present the group with the most voted ideas, and the least voted ideas. Then there will be another vote to determine which events will be done first. After the initial set of plans have been completed, a new set of plans from the remaining ideas will be announced and a new vote will start.
In conclusion, when people start college it can be hard for them to find where they fit in. With the bored people’s club, they can find at least one event with something they like, and they may even find other people with the same interests. Once this happens, then the bored people’s club has fulfilled its goal.
