Jinder Mahal = Donald Trump
Steve Cook makes the comparison no one else has the guts to make!

Jinder Mahal returned to WWE on July 27, 2016. If you had told me back then that he would be WWE Champion within a year, I would have thought you were crazy. If you spent your next sentence telling me that Donald Trump would be President of the United States, I would have had you committed because you just said two completely ridiculous things. Sure, Jinder was once again employed by WWE. Yes, Trump had secured the Republican nomination. But I didn’t think he’d get enough people to vote for him to actually hold the highest office in the country.
What can I say? I’ve held the office of President of the United States in high esteem for my entire life, as I imagine most people do. I didn’t think that my fellow Americans would actually entrust it to a reality TV star. I also didn’t think that WWE would give their most important championship, which had been held by some of the greatest wrestlers to set foot in their ring, to a jobber.
Both of these things happened. I’ve spent way too much time trying to figure it out. I still don’t have many answers regarding either scenario. But the more I think about it, the more I see the parallels between WWE Champion Jinder Mahal & United States of America President Donald Trump. Here are some of the most notable ones…
Qualifications

My main point of contention with Jinder becoming WWE Champion was the fact that he had done very little to earn the position. He had no experience in main event matches. He hadn’t worked his way up the ladder of WWE from jobbing to winning mid-card matches to winning secondary championships before finally reaching the top of the mountain: the WWE Championship. He just woke up one day and somebody made him WWE Champion.

Donald Trump had zero experience in politics or government. He’d never run for office. He’d never held any type of job in government, or really any type of job where he worked on behalf of other people. He didn’t work his way up from local government, or even from a chamber of Congress or a governorship. He just woke up one day and somebody made him President.
Who They Beat To Get There

Jinder beat Randy Orton. Orton’s a widely respected pro wrestler that’s accomplished a great deal during his career. He has family ties to the business. He has a tremendous amount of ability. His qualifications are unquestioned. But for whatever reason, a lot of wrestling fans have never liked him and never will like him. He just doesn’t connect with much of America, no matter how much insiders tell us he does. And he’s done some pretty shady stuff that’s really tough to defend.

Donald beat Hillary Clinton. Clinton’s a widely respected politician that’s accomplished a great deal during her career. She has familiy ties to the business. She has a tremendous amount of ability. Her qualifications are unquestioned. But for whatever reason, a lot of Americans have never liked her and never will like her. She just doesn’t connect with much of America, no matter how much insiders tell us she does. And she’s done some pretty shady stuff that’s really tough to defend.
Fan Support

The majority doesn’t support Jinder Mahal. But the people that do are fervent about it. They spend their days on Twitter & Facebook creating hashtags & memes, usually something to do with the hindering of Jinder. In spite of increasing evidence that Mahal doesn’t have much business being WWE Champion, they stand behind Jinder and everything he claims, even the stuff that contradicts the other stuff he claims.

Now, there are some key differences between the two men. Jinder has a much better physique. Donald is a much more effective talker. Donald is in the WWE Hall of Fame. Will Jinder get there? There are three men not currently on WWE’s roster that have held the WWE Championship that aren’t in the Hall of Fame: Ivan Koloff, Stan Stasiak & Sid Vicious. Everybody else is either in or will be in after they retire.
Perhaps Jinder’s induction will be conducted by Donald. They can chat about their wild & crazy times in 2016–17 that turned the world upside down.
