Meet Mrs. Wrestling
Candice LaRae is beloved by independent wrestling’s cult following, but Brandi Wagner sees that love spreading to the WWE Universe this year.

Candice LeRae is somewhat new to the WWE scene, however her six degrees of separation is but only one. Her husband is Johnny Wrestling, Johnny Gargano. Mrs. Wrestling though, is no stranger to the squared circle. The Canadian born Candice debuted in 2002 as a main-stay of the Southern California wrestling scene, having notable tenures with EWF, IWC, APW and PWG.
She has worked extensively outside of California in the last few years, AIW, ROH, DDT in Japan and many other small promotions across the Midwest, Texas, the Eastern US and Europe. Currently, she is one half of the inter-gender tag team with Joey Ryan, known as The World’s Cutest Tag Team in addition to her singles career.
I have been a fan of Candice since I first saw her in PWG in 2011. I thought it was super awesome that this petite blond bomber was out kicking ass and taking names in great matches with the guys. She’s also proven her prowess with women as well, which will also be on showcase in the Mae Young Classic.
I think what I love best about Candice, besides the fact she loves Disney and to bake like I do, is her heart and determination. She will do just about anything her body will allow her to do for the fans. She’s not afraid to use weapons, to put people through things or go through them herself.

A particularly memorable moment is in the Guerrilla Warfare Match at PWG Eleven, she and Joey were taking on the Young Bucks for the PWG Tag Team Titles. The Young Bucks broke out a sneaker that had thumb tacks all along sole, very painful looking, and took a superkick right to the mush. Being in attendance, this blew my mind as Candice’s face became the infamous crimson mask. To this day, this is a moment that never ceases to take my breath away.
You can feel that she gives her all, and that she appreciates the fan’s support. Of course, like everyone and everything in wrestling, she has her detractors, especially over her inter-gender wrestling work. She doesn’t let them get her down though, I’ve never seen her without that bright smile of hers, and I don’t think that will ever change about her.
As a fan, I love seeing her resume grow and for more fans to get to experience watching Candice ply her craft. She’s bubbly, she’s badass, she’s a little nerdy and a true underdog hero. Like a certain red haired WWE Superstar, she’s just got that ability to make you root for her and pull for her no matter how stacked the odds are against her.

So no matter how stacked the roster is for the upcoming Mae Young Classic is, I will never count out Candice.
