That’s Life… That’s Amore
Brandi Wagner discusses the artful performances of WWE Superstar Enzo Amore.

Wrestling is high art when done well. When you can reach across oceans of humanity and through television screens to seize the heart and soul of the fans. During a very impassioned, inspired and intelligent soliloquy, Enzo Amore again seized the hearts of many fans, myself included. The storyline friendship implosion of Enzo and Big Cass struck a very real and relatable chord with fans of all kinds. Almost everyone, in one way or another has felt the way Enzo said he did, hurt and betrayed. However I believe the best part was that he said he would not be deterred from chasing his dream. A very good, motivational and teachable moment by the Certified G.
Art has the innate ability to stir with the viewer a myriad of emotions. There are many moments throughout the long history of professional wrestling that seem to transcend the sport, to transcend the time frame from which it is from and continue to inspire and move people. For me personally, Enzo has joined an elite group in my life. Very few non-tribute related moments have reduced me to tears, which he did in this segment. When I find myself getting down, this will be a clip that I can go to and remind myself, hey that’s life. Sometimes really bad things happen despite your best effort.
Though Enzo may have lost, he has surely cemented his place as one of this generation’s best talkers, as well as his place in my heart, and I’m sure those of countless others. This scenario is so simple, one friend turning on another, but it really captured everyone’s attention. However the real art comes into play in doing something simple and doing it right. Enzo hit all the buttons of doing it right. He got his heart broken by his best friend, he got his ass kicked, he dusted himself off and he’s still chasing that dream.
It’ll be interesting to see where Enzo and Cass go in their journeys from here. No matter the highest of successes they achieve or the lowest of lows, you will always remember when Cass turned on Enzo. You will always remember Enzo’s response, his heart, his fire and his attitude. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m sure there’s a tribute video set to Celine Dion’s My Heart Will Go On, and I need a good therapeutic cry.
