St. Patrick’s Day is known to everyone like an extra reason to relax or the very reason to have a raucous party. But there are especially interesting celebrations. Make a route while reading, and YESIM will help with the Internet!

  1. NEW ZEALAND (9 Euro / 1 GB)

Who is the first to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day? Dublin? No way! This is the most remote country from Ireland — New Zealand. The Americans brought this tradition. Don’t say it, but they know a lot about branding.

2. RUSSIA (13 euro / 1 GB)

In 2017, in Moscow, on the eve of the St. Patrick’s parade, the Russian Orthodox Church recognized St. Patrick’s Day as an official Orthodox holiday.

3. USA (13 Euro / 1 GB)

Chicago celebrates the holiday loudly. In 1962, the local head of the plumbing union, Steve Bailey, suggested pouring dye into the river, which is designed to look for places of pollution in pipes. We are waiting for a new legend about the underwater dragon to appear.

4. NIGERIA (58 Euro / 1 GB)

What do you think, if Africa means not Christians? In 1961, when the country gained independence, Saint Patrick was named its patron. Today there are many descendants of those who were converted to Christianity by Irish missionaries a couple of centuries ago in Nigeria.

5. SPACE (priceless)

St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated even in space. Astronauts of the international space station continually send “green” greetings to the Earth:

  • in 2011, astronaut Cady Coleman played a concert on a flute;
  • in 2013, Chris Hadfield shared a cover for the ballad Danny Boy (although in 2014 the video was deleted due to permission to use the song);
  • in 2017, Shane Kimbrug tweeted a photograph of Dublin from space as a present to earthlings.

St. Patrick’s Day in 2020 is celebrated on March 17th. Book your seats while they are and relax! YESIM offers to forget about roaming and just enjoy stable Internet abroad! Click here to find out how it works.

Don’t forget to listen to The Cranberries, Van Morrison, U2!
