YGG Is Driving into the Future with FrodoBots AI
Yield Guild Games (YGG) is pleased to announce its collaboration with the AI robotics company FrodoBots AI for the AI vs. Humanity Earth Rover Challenge at the International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS) 2024 in Abu Dhabi. YGG players have the opportunity to help advance AI research by remotely driving a robot, earning a chance to qualify for a free trip to Abu Dhabi to join the Earth Rover Challenge.
The community’s best Earth Rover drivers representing YGG at IROS 2024 will be identified through their participation in the Guild Advancement Program (GAP) Season 6 FrodoBots bounty quest. Members of YGG guilds competing in the upcoming YGG Guild RoboWars via the YGG Game Testers Program also stand a chance to take part in the Earth Rover Challenge in Abu Dhabi.
“We’re all excited about working with FrodoBots to give the YGG community access to meaningful experiences like the Earth Rover Challenge in Abu Dhabi. Work in the future isn’t just going to be defined by cutting-edge technology. It’s also going to be fun,” said YGG co-founder Beryl Li. “Our mission at YGG has always been connecting our community with the best opportunities available in web3. FroboBots AI makes data collection and AI training fun and engaging. They’re a perfect fit in the YGG ecosystem.”
How FrodoBots Is Gamifying Robotics
FrodoBots AI is a Singapore-based robotics company that builds fun robotic gaming experiences such as its first gaming title: Earth Rovers. It collects driving data from its Earth Rover robots deployed all around the world via its drive-to-earn program, offering FrodoBots Points (FBP) in return. Gamers operate FrodoBots’ sidewalk robots remotely, and the data collected will be used for Embodied AI research.
Each Earth Rover is equipped with an assortment of lights, cameras and sensors packaged together in a rugged build designed to handle a variety of challenging terrain and weather conditions. Players can engage in an IRL scavenger hunt where they earn points as they drive around robots located in various countries around the world. These drives can be completed in a web browser on any platform, and even include support for game controllers such as traditional pads and steering wheels. YGG has included an Earth Rover Bootcamp bounty quest in GAP Season 6.
Interested players have a variety of gameplay modes to choose from. GAP questers can experience operating an Earth Rover in a test drive, where they remotely guide a robot in a controlled environment. After successfully completing a test drive, players are granted access to the Earth Rover School program. This mode lets players earn FBP as they go on missions and explore the streets of iconic cities like Perth, Vienna, Manila, Auckland, Taipei and Madrid. Players may also drive their own Earth Rover in their immediate areas and earn FBP in this gameplay mode.
“We’re thrilled to be working alongside YGG to bring the Earth Rovers Challenge to life,” said FrodoBots CEO and co-founder Michael Chung Yeung Cho. “YGG has long proven its commitment to supporting the growth of web3. They also house some of the best and most dedicated players in web3 gaming who have a genuine interest in the latest advancements in the industry. The YGG community will make excellent representatives to showcase our Earth Rovers on the world stage at IROS 2024 later this year.”
Global Opportunities for a Global Network
The five best players from the YGG community will be flown in for an all-expenses-paid trip to represent Humanity in the AI vs. Humanity Earth Rover Challenge at IROS 2024 in Abu Dhabi. Finishers of the GAP Season 6 FrodoBots bounty quest can advance to the Earth Rovers School to continue accumulating XP after their test drive. The two community members who earn the most XP by September 22 will get to play for YGG in the match against AI-controlled robots at IROS 2024.
YGG has also secured Earth Rover robots for the community to play with after GAP Season 6, circumventing the need for players to acquire robots of their own to continue leveling up their driving skills. Guilds may use these Earth Rovers to determine who can acquire the most miles and driving hours in the YGG Guild RoboWars via the YGG Game Testers Program. Currently, 12 groups within the Guild Alliance from the Philippines, France, India and Vietnam are confirmed to enter the inter-guild competition, with more participants slated to join the fray in the coming weeks. The three best players to rise above the rest in this competition will also be invited to join the IROS 2024 Earth Rover Challenge.
Under FrodoBots AI’s platform, the entire YGG community can contribute to the future of AI research through decentralized data collection methods and have fun with FrodoBots’ drive-to-earn program. As YGG continues to expand its roster of partners focused on emerging technologies such as AI and machine learning, its vision of equipping its community for the future of work is steadily coming to fruition.
