YGG Partners with the Storyverse to Power Community-driven NFT Experiences
YGG is empowering creators in Web3 by partnering with the Storyverse, a participative, animated story game platform that provides tools to create and publish interactive experiences with profile picture (PFP) NFTs. Incubated by Playco, the world’s leading developer of HTML5 and instant games, the Storyverse allows users to create interactive story games using animated PFP characters. Readers get to make choices that impact story outcomes and drive rewards for creators.
YGG has purchased 50 Storyverse land PLOTs worth US$ 8,925. Land PLOTs represent a no-code publishing tool to create stories in the form of comic panels that include NFT characters’ dialogue and stances (emotions, poses and animations). With the acquired PLOTs, the Storyverse will enable the YGG community to develop a range of experiences with various IPs on the Storyverse platform and share them publicly across the web.
“The Storyverse gives YGG members a fun, innovative way to earn from games,” said Justin Waldron, co-founder of the Storyverse. “We’re offering YGG members aWriter Pass to unlock access to story PLOTs owned by YGG so that everyone can work together to create value. We’re eager to see how the amazing YGG community will leverage the Storyverse to usher in the next chapter in the creator economy.”
YGG members can fill out this Google form and a Storyverse team member will reach out to grant access to the platform.
The no-code platform lowers the barrier to creating, while the HTML5 format allows for effortless game distribution outside of large Web2 applications. Easy-to-use publishing tools enable creators to give life to their NFTs in an entertaining way and get rewarded by readers. Besides making interactive choices that determine the outcomes of stories, readers can also mint “proof-of-choice” tokens to drive value to creators. In the Storyverse, communities, tools and tokens work together to fuel a new creator economy based around NFT characters.
The following three pillars lay the foundation for the Storyverse economy:
- INK, an ERC-20 token that is used for value transfers and governance.
- PLOT, an ERC-721 non-fungible token that represents a specific location in the Storyverse and functions as a mini-publishing application that creators can use to create a story.
- CHOICE, an ERC-721 token that readers can mint and purchase to access premium content.
The user-generated content (UGC) tools put PFP character development and lore in the hands of the community, powered by DAO governance. Through PLOTs, these tools give birth to interactive community-created experiences in the form of stories for people to immerse themselves in.
The Storyverse features a chain-agnostic protocol design where data and information like art assets, licenses, attributes and transactions are stored, allowing users to create the “backstory-of-record” for every character in the Storyverse.
The Storyverse was founded by Michael Carter, inventor of the HTML5 WebSocket protocol, and Justin Waldron, co-founder of Zynga, a global leader in mobile gaming. The platform is currently live on the Ethereum blockchain.
