YGG secures ultra-rare Mythic Guild NFT in Guild of Guardians Founders Sale
Guild of Guardians is a mobile-based role-playing game where players build their dream team of ‘Guardians’ and compete in a guild to earn rewards. Developed by Stepico Games and built on Immutable X, a new second-layer platform for blockchain games with NFTs, the project recently completed its first Founder Sale of NFTs, featuring a collection of playable in-game NFTs ranging from $200 to $100,000 in value. The sale successfully raised over $3 million in revenue as well as 133,270 pre-game registrations.
Yield Guild Games (YGG) was among the sale participants, securing 50 Adventurers Guilds with 20 members each, which will admit a total 1000 players when the game launches on mobile devices in the first half of 2022.
YGG also purchased an ultra-rare Mythic Guild NFT, of which only 10 were available. Priced at US $96,000 each, Mythic Guilds grant their owners special permissions to form an in-game guild of up to 50 members, which is the maximum size for any guild type.
In addition, the owner of a Mythic Guild NFT is entitled to 10% of all proceeds earned by guild members from crafting sales.
Why is YGG partnering with Guild of Guardians?
Guild of Guardians possesses several desirable qualities in a blockchain game including high-quality graphics, entertaining gameplay, and a well-designed earning component. It also fosters a sense of community by design — rewarding collective over individual efforts — which puts it squarely in line with YGG’s principles as a guild.
The level of detail and amount of development committed to the game renders it on par with top-shelf non-blockchain games, which is another reason YGG finds them a great addition to their list of partners.
“We are always looking for the next good play-to earn-games and Guild of Guardians piqued our interest,” said YGG co-founder Gabby Dizon, regarding the partnership.
“We spoke to the team, and we were happy with what we found; they have polished graphics and interesting gameplay. We also like that it is mobile-based and that they have the guild system, which is perfect for what we do, so it ticked all the right boxes for us to come in and buy assets for the game,” Gabby said.
Yield Guild sees a lot of potential value being added to the YGG ecosystem via Guild of Guardians. Not only will it provide up to 50 guild members with opportunities to earn, it will also provide benefits to all members through the revenue created by YGG’s ownership of the Mythic Guild NFT.
What is Guild of Guardians?
Announced in March 2021, Guild of Guardians is a mobile-based MMORPG with a fantasy theme, which is developed by Stepico Games and published by Immutable.
Guild of Guardians distinguishes itself from other blockchain-based games by offering NFTs that can only be earned as the result of group effort, by crafting or battling alongside players in one’s own guild. The only way to craft items is to work together with other players in the guild. As such, the lack of an individual crafting system exemplifies the game’s emphasis on teamwork, encouraging cooperation among several players to maximize rewards.
According to Game Lead Derek Lau, “The space opens up a breadth of collaborative opportunities, has the potential to disrupt and alter the face of gaming as we know it.”
Built on Immutable X, the second-layer platform for NFTs, Guild of Guardians players are not subject to the usual hindrances posed by the Ethereum network such as having to pay gas fees or wait long periods of time for transactions to confirm. Instead, gameplay experience remains fluid and largely uninterrupted as game-related transactions occur off-chain.
Like Gabby, Derek witnessed first-hand the flood of interest into the blockchain gaming space which inspired him to contribute to the expansion of the play-to-earn gaming metaverse directly.
