Yield Guild Games Backs Sipher, a Play-to-Earn Game with Cloneable NFTs
Yield Guild Games adds cloneable NFTs to its treasury of unique and valuable play-to-earn assets by partnering with Sipher, a PVE Cooperative Dungeons and PVP Battle Arena.
YGG has committed US$50,000 for the Seed Round of Sipher along with US$80,000 worth of Sipher NFTs.
With the NFTs that YGG has acquired, it has secured a spot for its players to play the game at launch. Also, owning the Genesis batch of the four initial Sipher races will let YGG clone more Sipher NFT characters to provide the community with scholarships and create the first generation of clones with the highest stats, possibly even higher than the original Genesis Siphers.
Jeff Holmberg, Head of Investments at YGG, describes founder Tin Nguyen’s vision as both exciting and fascinating. “Sipher is a unique, community-driven MOBA PVP and adventure PVE that nails the balance between play-to-earn mechanisms and immensely fun gameplay,” said Jeff. “Be on the lookout for the original lore-filled Sipheria comic series coming later this year.”
“We are very excited to onboard YGG as the biggest guild in our Metaverse,“ said Alain Dinh, Head of Partnership at Sipher. “We truly believe that the community is the most important factor for the success of our game. Therefore, we are looking forward to YGG sharing their expertise and experience with us and working closely together on future improvements that will benefit all parties alike.”
Sipher plans to release a few core game modes that focus on fighting and exploration:
- A Solo and Co-Op PVE Dungeon Crawler inspired by Diablo where players can use their Sipher NFTs to beat dungeons that are designed to be played in short 10-minute bursts.
- A PVP-focused and competitive MOBA game, similar to Brawl Stars or Smash Legends, that can also be played in short sessions with matches lasting six minutes.
- An Open-World Metaverse where players can hang out with guild members in social locations like a bar or at someone’s home that players can own and decorate to display their NFT collections.
Players will be rewarded after completing levels with crafting and upgrade materials in addition to SIPHER and ATHER token rewards. SIPHER, as the governance token, can be used for staking, cloning new characters, crafting new rare equipment, having a share of marketplace fees, and voting rights on future decisions of the game development team. Meanwhile, ATHER is the reward token, which will be burned to level up characters, skills, equipment, and other in-game items, and as a cloning fee as well.
Sipher is based in the world of Sipheria, a brand-new universe where worlds are all interconnected. In this world, meta-digital beings called Siphers embody a strange technology derived from cryptography — the ability to traverse the digital landscape freely.
The game has a finite number of special Siphers with sub-racial traits like Canis, Cyborg, Infected, and Cosmic, all totaling 10,000, with similar numbers for other races. All Sipheria characters have randomized traits that make them completely unique from one another. Each NFT character belongs to a certain species, has a sub-race, wears a specific armor piece, and wields a specific weapon.
These 10,000 Siphers can only be produced through cloning by visiting the Laboratory, a place for experimentation with Sipher characters, equipment, and upgrades. To clone Siphers, players initiate the DNA Sequencing process by combining their Sipher together with a new Vessel Core, which is earned by playing the game, in order to produce a new Sipher that potentially has traits very similar to the Origin Sipher. Cloned characters, materials, and equipment will all be tradable in the internal marketplace to generate additional revenue streams for players.
Sipher’s end goal is to create an Open World Social game secured by the Ethereum blockchain and an efficient Layer 2 scaling solution.
The first versions of the game will be released on PC, with an eventual release on mobile platforms to offer a cross-platform gaming experience.
