Yield Guild Games: Community Update — Q4 2024
The final quarter of 2024 was momentous for YGG. The YGG Play Summit in Manila saw multiple esports tournaments, the first in-person GAM3S.GG GAM3 Awards ceremony, the red carpet premiere of Metaverse Filipino Worker, and a program packed with thought-provoking conversations.
Two iterations of the Guild Advancement Program (GAP) treated an influx of questers to several upgrades. With GAP Season 8 piloting the Onchain Guilds platform on Base, several YGG communities competed on guild quest leaderboards to become a top guild.

The Biggest Player-Focused Web3 Gaming Event in the World
The Summit’s Industry Day hosted fireside chats and panels featuring founders and top builders from Web2 and Web3. Speakers included CCP Games CEO Hilmar Veigar Pétursson, esports pioneer Fatal1ty, Parallel co-founder Kalos, Sky Mavis co-founder Jihoz, The Sandbox co-founder Sebastien Borget, TCG legend Alliestrasza, and GamingGrid co-founder and YGG Play Summit Ambassador YellowPanther. High-level discussions carried over to the Leaders Roundtables, where Web3 contributors could weigh in on the industry’s hottest topics. See the full agenda and speaker lineup at yggplay.gg.
Other events include the red carpet premiere of Metaverse Filipino Worker (MFW), a short film featuring YGG community members who have discovered Web3 as an alternative to moving abroad for better career opportunities. GAM3S.GG’s first in-person GAM3 Awards ceremony also took place, with Off The Grid sweeping its nominated categories and YellowPanther winning the Content Creator of the Year award.
Onchain Guilds on Base
On the Summit’s Industry Day, YGG co-founder Gabby Dizon and Creator of Base Jesse Pollak announced that Onchain Guilds would be launching on Base. YGG onboarded a select group of established guilds and newer guild partners to trial the platform. This first wave of Onchain Guilds completed GAP Season 8 guild quests, climbing the quest leaderboards for greater rewards.
By December’s end, 75 communities had signed up as Onchain Guilds, and group wallet value totals were nearing US$750,000. Several of these guilds joined GAP guild quests, with 49 Onchain Guilds signing up for at least one. As of Q4 2024, Sando Gang was the largest Onchain Guild (by number of members) at 503 members, followed by NFTXSTREET at 477, Guild Genesis at 471, PSG at 464, and BCH at 251.

The Future of Work Grows
YGG Future of Work (FoW) released a video series that sheds light on the program’s vision and how each FoW partner stands to impact the YGG community. The program was heavily featured in GAP this quarter, with more than 8,600 participants signing up for the Navigate questline in GAP Season 8.
FoW was prominently featured during the YGG Play Summit, with a Gamer Expo booth to showcase how attendees can start exploring AI and other emerging technologies. YGG co-founder Beryl Li and Future of Work Head Trish Rosal also joined panels on the main stage of Industry Day.
Side events rounded off the Summit week for FoW, including the AI Primer session with Metaversity, a FrodoBots meetup showcasing robotics’ latest advancements, and networking mixers.
GAP’s Exponential Growth
With the Rewards Center and the Stake House, GAP Season 7 attracted over 200 guilds, 8,213 questers, and 47,964 quest enrollments. It featured 11 games, including newcomers Blade of God X, The Mystery Society, Sipher Odyssey, and Arena of Faith. The reception for the season was positive, with little downtime as the next season opened a few weeks after Season 7 wrapped.
GAP Season 8 coincided with the Onchain Guilds launch, with 75 guilds joining the first wave. Among them, 49 guilds completed at least one guild quest, with leaderboards that brought higher rewards with higher rankings. Participation almost tripled overall at 21,542 questers, of whom 95% submitted at least one quest.
Anichess, Blast Royale, Champions Tactics, Immortal Rising 2, MapleStory Universe, RavenQuest and Space Nation joined GAP in Season 8. DePIN project Copute also made its FoW debut.
New Additions to the YGG Ecosystem
YGG took active positions in the 4v4 sports MOBA brawler Sparkball, the multi-game theme park Party Icons, and the superhero athlete animated metaverse Super Champs.
Regional partner guilds also hit significant milestones by the year’s end. The OLA GG platform reached 1.8 million quests completed, while KGeN reported 3.6 million unique active wallets (UAW) by Q4. W3GG continued its Southeast Asia expansion with 110,000 active community members after their platform launch, and SKYGG became one of the top 50 Hyperliquid ecosystem validators.
Q4 finished the year strong, gathering the Web3 community at the YGG Play Summit while establishing the Guild Protocol’s future with Onchain Guilds. As the new year progresses, YGG remains focused on improvement, expansion and innovation.
