Yield Guild Games Partners With Tatsumeeko, the First MMORPG on Discord

Yield Guild Games expands its game partners further with Tatsumeeko, a MMORPG-lite that connects Discord and mobile communities to a modern fantasy RPG world. The game combines the best elements of idle games, Japanese role-playing games, and creative building games with social elements and user-generated content to create a platform-agnostic, community-driven modern-fantasy MMORPG-lite for Discord, iOS, mobile, and web.

It is built on top of Tatsu.gg, a Discord Tamagotchi game that gives points to users when they message other players. With this, Tatsumeeko has immediate exposure to 62 million users and places itself in a unique position where the game platform contributes to the Discord community’s user growth, retention, and the community’s brand reach.

YGG participated in the seed round of Tatsumeeko’s governance token, MKLN, worth US$200,000. This partnership will allow the guild and its community to participate in the game once it is launched. Tatsumeeko is the first MMORPG to become playable on Discord, and being one of its earliest players will be advantageous for YGG once the full game has been released and as Tatsumeeko expands across multiple chat applications to reach a wider audience.

“We are delighted to be partnered with YGG, the world’s largest gaming guild,” David Lim, co-founder and CEO of Tatsumeeko states. “YGG has a huge community spanning multiple continents, and we believe that our partnership with YGG will help give Tatsumeeko exposure to many new audiences around the globe.”

The free-to-play game will feature a vast and explorable world called “Ielia”. The players will be introduced to Tatsumeeko through lore and background stories. The story will also serve as a mechanism to help teach different features to the player without overwhelming them.

Combat will be fully automated and can only be controlled by the composition of the player’s party, the characters’ attributes and their equipped skills. Players can execute different combos against different enemies through strategic planning.

Discord communities can also create their own events and activities and link them back to their own product or game. They can integrate aspects of their game onto Discord, help to introduce people to the community and to the game as well.

The utility token, IGS, can be obtained by completing daily quests and through battlepasses. Players are required to complete second-tier missions for them to afford luxuries like cosmetics, skins and strong gear. Such missions will require players to spend their tokens on upgrading their equipment as the game becomes more difficult as they progress. For example, IGS can be used to roll for Gachapon Banners and obtain heroes and gear.

Players who stake the governance token, MKLN, will receive additional tokens and will be able to participate in making decisions for game development and events.

David Lim is an experienced community builder with a decade-long experience growing and building game communities. He co-founded Brutus.SG, a game server host that ran from 2011 to 2016, and started the Discord community gamification platform Tatsu.gg as a community project in late 2015. He is also one of the pioneers of gamification on Discord, paving the way for the growth of the ecosystem via open-source libraries and the Tatsu.gg platform.

The Tatsu Bot is already available to use with some proof-of-concept gamification features such as Tatsugotchi, a virtual pet game on Discord and a housing system that allows players to add furniture and customize their virtual Discord home. The Bot will be revamped into Tatsumeeko, whose early release will include an auto-battle system. The game is expected to launch by the end of 2022.
