Everybody is in a rush to acquire knowledge (myself included), but unfortunately, it takes time to master any skill. You can probably learn basic programming skills after studying and practicing for a few months, but will you be great? Probably not. Peter Norvig argues that it takes ten years of dedication to learn programming (like many other skills). I agree that deliberate practice is critical, and I like all his advice in this article.
If you’re in a hurry to be an amazing programmer, I’m sorry, but it may take over a decade.

He’s very smart, and a few lessons from this interview stuck with me, such as the importance of being surrounded by experts (he called it being a sponge).

Predictions are always fun because if they’re right, people are super impressed; and if you’re wrong, people are usually forgiving. The GraphQL and WebAssembly predictions align with what I’ve seen in the last months, but I was surprised by the increasing interest in Progressive Web Apps (PWA). What are your predictions?
