Start to never give up

Startups in Latin America do not have a favorable context; saying this is not scandalous or strange for those who choose the “entrepreneur life” and start a business or organization in our countries. But why do people still do it? Once you get the “why?” of your venture right, this provocative fact that in Latin America it’s even harder to start a business just generates greater motivation. It may sound a bit eccentric, but Yanapaña was born from this provocation and the desire to help.

Yanapaña is my startup, and it is an internet-based platform that allows users to ask free and anonymous questions about any health-related concerns. If you want to know more about it you can visit the website or watch the video below:

Yanapaña is my baby, and it’s something I built from the heart and with a much greater purpose than just making money. That’s the reason that after all those obstacles I’m still waking up every day at 5am to work hard at it. My only advice for people wanting to start something is that being an entrepreneur is way overrated and although it may sound “cool” because of all the fake perks that come with being an entrepreneur that you usually see in the media, no one tells you that you will make less than normal wages for a lot of time or that you will hit low moments that make you want to give up and cry.

YLAI Bolivian Fellows

The first thing I must do at this point is to be grateful to all of the organizations and/or people who believed and still believe in this enterprise. In this thank you, YLAI has a special meaning because it is from this experience that I was able to learn a LOT. Within the great teachings I had in YLAI, I have one in particular: “good ideas with good entrepreneurs have a chance of success. Good ideas with good entrepreneurs willing to never give up have assured a great percentage of success.”

You may have heard that perseverance is what separates the successful entrepreneurs from the non-successful ones and the key to never giving up is to start with the “why”. Once you get the “why” right, everything is possible. If you don’t do this, do not even try to be an entrepreneur, particularly in an ecosystem like Latin America where the obstacles and the adversities that one must overcome are so great. We can be surrounded by problems, people who will tell you that you can not do what you want to do, but if the purpose is correct, none of that matters.
