Although many new yoga studios are opening every day, not everyone has the opportunity to attend classes. Some don’t have the time and for others, it can be too costly. It can be too time consuming to attend an hour yoga class every day or even a few times a week. If you’re working a 9–5 job and balancing your social life — trying to fit your schedule with a yoga studio can become a hassle rather than the relaxing hour it’s meant to be. So, who stepped into the picture to fix this problem? Great yogis using YouTube.

YouTube makes yoga easy to practice on the go.

Out of the thousands of teachers on YouTube, the one thing they all have in common is the ability to practice anywhere. Most teachers understand that not every student has the funds and space for a yoga mat in their home. How do you fix that? You improvise. Either by using a towel or carpet, yoga can be practiced anywhere. This makes it perfect for yogis that travel 24/7. Lots of hotels will offer you a yoga mat that you can use in your room or extra space for a quick practice.

There are classes of every length and type.

Even with YouTube, there’s still the problem of time. Not all of us can fit in a 60-minute yoga routine every day. What’s great about the different teachers and channels is that there are classes of every length. Whether you have 7 or 90 minutes — there is a class out there for you.

Even better, there are different kinds of classes for everyone. Many channels offer a 30 or 31-day channel for new yogis and then specialized classes for those who want hip opening, stress relief or even yoga for runners. That means any kind of class you can think of — it is online. The best part about it is that it’s free. Yoga classes, tutorials and videos on all things yoga are all available without paying a cent. Yoga videos on youtube are easy to practice at home when you maybe aren’t sure how to make your own sequence or want some guidance.

Yoga with Adriene

Some of the popular channels…

Perhaps one of the most popular channels right now is Yoga with Adriene. Adriene Mishler has around 3.2 million subscribers and posts a weekly video generally on Sundays. She’s known for being goofy and has the ability to make fun of herself. On her archives, however, you also have access to 30-day challenges, yoga camps and different series in all sorts of categories. In 2016, she won a Streamy Award and in January of this year, searches for “Yoga with Adriene” spiked by 40 percent since November 2017.

But Adriene isn’t the only popular YouTube yogi. Erin Motz hosts The Bad Yogi channel, where the mantra is that no one has to be perfect to practice yoga. She also has a 30-day challenge as well as fun shorter videos, such a horoscope series right now. As each new star sign comes to the calendar, she posts a new video (all in good fun) that targets some of the characteristics of each star sign. Other popular channels include Faith Hunter’s channel, Fightmaster Yoga, Yoga by Candace, DoYouYoga, Alyona Moves, Body Positive Yoga and Yoga with Kassandra.

Bad Yogi

Whatever kind of yoga you choose to do, there’s no doubt that you will find the video that inspires you and suit your needs. For the yogi with tighter purse strings or simply a yogi who loves to stay at home and practice alone, videos from great yogis on Youtube is the perfect solution. It’s not for everyone, but it’s a great option for expanding yoga’s helpful benefits beyond the studio.
