As we’ve traveled throughout the United States on our California Roadshow, we’ve met a lot of different teachers, yogis and influencers. Why are we here? We want to meet the people who are an essential part of yoganect and we want to explore opportunities to make yoganect the best it can be. Part of that journey now is our exciting sponsorship of USA Yoga’s 2018 National Championships! We’re working with USA Yoga to help sponsor and promote their national event, taking place June 29, 2018 in Madison, Wisconsin.

What is USA Yoga?

Yoga takes place all across the world and each country and region has a particular take on what part of the practice is most important for them. USA Yoga aims to promote yoga as a sport while advocating it as a way to be more mentally and physically healthy. So, maybe you’ve used to yoga as a spiritual practice… but USA Yoga does things differently. Instead of purely meeting other yogis, both the event and organization gives yogis the chance to interact with athletes, coaches and judges.

It’s a perfect fit for yoganect — because the US yoga market is the largest worldwide — with over 36 million practitioners and reaching around 16 billion USD in revenue. By practicing yoga as a sport, USA Yoga sees the opportunity to encourage yogis to improve their practice as well as introduce the practice to more people.

What are we sponsoring?

Yoganect is sponsoring the 2018 National Championships, which will be held in Wisconsin this year. At these events, anyone can compete as long as they’re registered with USA Yoga. USA Yoga offers four levels of competition. At the first level, competitors can enter via video submission. Level two competitions are regionally held and are by invitation only. At the third level, competitors are also invited and compete at a national level. Level four competitions are international and consist of the International Championship put on by the International Organisation IYSF. This event happens every two years.

Because the 2018 National Championships are level three, you have to be invited to compete. Eddie Hall, founder of Farmhouse Health and Fitness won the Adults Men’s Gold Medal in 2017. Another popular name is Emily Avery, who concurrently to competing is also pursuing her Masters and Doctorate in Neuroscience.

We want to extend a special thank you to Bobbie Fischer and her eco-friendly yoga apparel brand: One Love One Tribe. She connected us to USA Yoga and together, we will both be sponsoring this exciting event. Another big thank you goes out to Garland Hume, Board President of USA Yoga, and Ainslie Faust, Executive Director of USA Yoga, for their support.
