These are challenging times and a lot of uncertainty is in the air. Some people are handling it gracefully while many are feeling frustrated, stressed out and confused. They want things to get moving and seek freedom from the current situation. Yogic practices can help in dealing with challenging times. How to get started with Yogic practices?

Preparatory Attitude

  • Get started: Don’t wait for the all the planets to align to start your practices. Started today and now. Even if it is a small step, start!
  • Creating time and space: It would good to allot time and space for your yoga routine. A quiet place that has sufficient movement of air and availability of natural light will be ideal. Only if it is not too hot or cold or polluted, it is advisable to choose an outdoor location. Staying indoors is safe.
  • Consistency: Scientific studies reveal that consistency in your practice is key to achieving higher states of awareness. Even if it is for small amount of time, try to be as consistent as possible. Do not push yourself though
  • Self-compassionate: Be kind and compassionate to yourself and others. If you are not able to adhere to your yogic routine because of yourself or someone else, do not get get into a blame-game or guilt trip. Be kind and start afresh
  • Choose a holistic Practice: Instead of choosing practices focused on specific aspect like muscles or stress, it would be good to choose a complete routine that involves asana, pranayama and dhyana. This will help in toning the body and mind.
