Effective Pre-launch marketing with Quick, Short Videos

Traditionally, marketing teams use to put all their efforts during or just before the launch of the product. Time has changed now! Increasingly, startups and even large companies are getting marketing teams involved very early on, pushing them to come up with innovative ways to grab early adopters even before the product is launched.

Lean Startups, Crowdfunding, MVP, Product — Market fit — all preaches to get customers involved very early on in the product lifecycle. Number of examples in recent time that proves when executed correctly, is sure to reap sweet fruits of success.

Recently, mobile game powerhouse Rovio revealed a new game “Love Rocks” in collaboration with Popstar Shakira. They ran a pre-launch campaign with short videos which generated a lot of curiosity among the fanbase. Apart from Shakira herself, what really worked for Rovio was very interesting “behind the scene” videos.

This is the first video in the series that introduced Shakira to Rovio team.

Second video is where they mock the game concept ideation and keep building a story for momentum.

Third and final video in the series, Shakira becomes one of them and also introduce the Love Rocks game.

From inception till release, they took their users along with them and strategically released teaser videos before and after the launch.

While not everyone can have a Star like Shakira, but one should be still able to generate good amount of visual contents to increase visibility, curiosity and buzz before launch.
