“It’s great to have close friends around you. They support me, listen to me and most importantly are always there for me. I felt like I was all alone when I was going through my depression and my parents divorce. All my friends parents were together, so I felt like I couldn’t really speak to them at all about what was happening — I thought that they wouldn’t understand or they would laugh at me or judge me and my family. But I sooner learnt that my friends did care and they realised how distant I had been. They constantly would want to know what was going on with me, I finally found the courage to tell them. My friends have supported me so much through these difficult periods in my life and I couldn’t be any more grateful for them. Talking to those closest to you can help. I learnt that through talking about your problems and how you are feeling, others around you can help you. You are never really alone, I think our minds allow us to think that when we are in a dark place mentally, but in reality we aren’t alone, we are surrounded by someone or groups of people who care about us and are willing to help us.” — (Sadie).
